Book Description
Excerpt from The University of Kansas Science Bulletin, Vol. 1 The column headed Date refers to the number of days between birth of the litter and the time of sacrifice. The column headed Type gives reference to either experimental or control animals. The succeeding columns are self explanatory and give both the average and the range. The range is the actual raw data of the two animals used in each age group. The red counts, white counts and platelet counts are based on cells per mm3. The differential and normoblast counts are based on 100 counted leukocytes. Those spaces which are blank under range indicate that there was no range, either due to inability to get the count, or due to the absence of that cell type. Those which are blank under average indicate that it was impossible to get a count. The weights Of the 45 and 52-day control animals were not taken. Book Description
Excerpt from The Kansas University Science Bulletin, Vol. 1: Devoted to the Publication of the Results of Research For ten years the University of Kansas has maintained the Kansas University Quarterly, a journal devoted to the publication of the results of research by members of the University of Kansas. At the opening of the second decade of the journal's existence it has been thought best to begin a new series, with some important changes in the name, manner, and time of publication. It has been decided, to abandon the quarterly form of issue, and instead to publish the separate papers as soon as they are ready for the printer. By this means the results of research will be more promptly given to the public, and in a form more satisfactory both to the authors and subscribers. Hereafter this journal will be called the Kansas University Science Bulletin, and will be issued at irregular intervals. Each volume will contain from 300 to 400 pages of reading matter, with the necessary illustrations; and approximately one volume a year will be issued. The amount of scientific matter thus published will be not less, and probably more, than that formerly appearing in four issues of the Quarterly. The subscription price will be hereafter $3 per volume: the price of each part will vary with the cost of publication. We hope our present large exchange list will remain intact, and new exchanges are solicited. All exchanges should be addressed to the Library of the University of Kansas. Book Description
Excerpt from The University of Kansas Science Bulletin, Vol. 39 Abstract. This paper treats of a series of Costa Rican Salientia. Two species, Hyla microcephala Cope and Eleutherodactylus monnichorum Dunn, are reported from Costa Rica for the first time. The following species are described as new: Dendrobates granuliferus, Eleutherodactylus taurus, Hyla legleri and Hyla dulcensis. The species Hyla monticola Cope, long known only from the type of specimen (now lost), is redescribed. Sixteen forms are illustrated with photographs. The collections made in Costa Rica after the completion of my work on "The Frogs and Toads of Costa Rica," include a large number of Amphibia. Certain of these have been studied and the results published in two supplemental works. Others remain unstudied. Book Description
Excerpt from The University of Kansas Science Bulletin, Vol. 44: September 13, 1963 The actual date of publication (i. E., mailing date) of many of the volumes of the University of Kansas Science Bulletin difiers so markedly from the dates bourne on the covers of the publication or on the covers of the separata that it seems wise to offer a corrected list showing the mailing date. The editor has been unable to verify mailing dates earlier than 1982. Separata were issued at the same time as the whole volume.
