According to world report on Disability, more than one billion humans or 15% of the world’s population stay with some shape of disability, of whom, nearly 200 million ride considerable difficulties in functioning. In the years ahead, incapacity will be an even larger situation because its incidence is on the rise. This is due to getting older populations and the greater danger of disability in older people as nicely as the global increase in continual fitness prerequisites such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and mental fitness problems. People with disability are considered ugly, and they are not welcome in society. People say they have the works of the spirit in them. Because of society‘s influence, a family with a child who has disability considers this child as a burden. In most places, a family hides their child for fear of being outcasts in the village. They would not consider them as useful to the community. Some think they are intellectually impaired too. In most cases, disabled children grow up learning from their parents that they are not worthy of mixing with other kids their age. The children accept the norm and believe they are cursed and under the punishment of God. People with bodily disabilities have skilled slender chances to enjoy college environments or practices due to fewer priorities given by way of academic providers to problems that might also guide the disabled in particular in developing nations in areas such as curriculums, instructing and studying materials, infrastructure, unique programs such as sports and games, environmental troubles and the normal high-quality of education. According to the Education for All (EFA) Global Monitoring Report 2010 reaching the marginalized youngsters with disabilities remains one of the most important problems leading to huge exclusion of the group from nice schooling.

The information was obtained from 12 purposively sampled private banking companies by adopting descriptive research design. Semi structured questionnaires were administered to 153 respondents from which 43 were all share department expertise and 110 were conveniently selected shareholders from those banks and interviews also administered for share department directors of those banks. The questionnaires covered the key aspects of what options are there to transfer shares in the absence of secondary stock market in Ethiopia and related challenges and benefits. The main conclusions of the paper were: despite the absence of secondary stock market in Ethiopia shares can be transferred between investors through different ways includes by purchase through the help of share department employees of the companies, by descendant’s if the transfer is sequestration, and through court order at the time of debt settlement, divorce, death. Difficult to know market value of shares, less marketability, inaccessibility of information about share trade were the major challenges with the existing share transfer mechanism that existed in private banking companies in the absence of stock market in Ethiopia. Generally the findings suggest that shares of the private banking companies can transferred between investors in the absence of stock market in Ethiopia. Some recommendations were given from those the banks should open formal office to act as an agent for share transfer purpose for their shareholders by doing so the banks can enhance the transferability of shares.

Majority of local NGOs are still either relief or development oriented regarding their policy objectives. They are fear of taking up policy advocacy, rule of law, human rights, criticism and opposition to state policies and practices. This is partly explained by the fact that many NGOs restored to opportunism or subservience to the government. That is, they make political calculations deemed necessary to ensure survival. In other words, most NGOs pretend not to engage in sensitive issues that may antagonize with the government. In simple terms, they rather conform to center of power and prefer to maintain personal and institutional interests (Kassahun, 2002:124). However, after 1991 a few local NGOs emerged and centered their objective on promoting the respect for the rule of law, protecting and monitoring human rights and enhancing civil awareness through various strategies. The Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO), Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA), Society for the Advancement of Human Rights Education (EAHRE) are some the examples, which entertain such objectives. Nevertheless, the relation of these human right NGOs and the government (EPRDF) is characterized by great friction and antagonism. Government sometimes intervened in their activities to extent of closing their offices (Sisay, 2001:29). In light of this background, the study is going to investigate this problem of advocacy NGOs by taking EHRCO as case and will also try to asses other impediments of its effective operation.

Master's Thesis from the year 2015 in the subject Sociology - Economy and Industry, grade: 3.83, Bahir Dar University, language: English, abstract: Solid waste management is becoming a major public health and environmental concern in urban areas of many developing countries, including Ethiopia. Bahir Dar is one of the cities in the country for which solid waste management is a problem. The main objective of the study is to investigate the challenges and prospects of public participation in solid waste management. The study area has nine sub cities. Simple random sampling was used to select two subcities and one zone from each selected subcity. Finally, systematic random sampling was used to select 271 respondents. The survey data was collected by using structured interview. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussion and observation. Descriptive statistics, ttest and chi-square test were used to determine an association between the dependent variable and the explanatory variables. The ordered logistic regression model was used to identify major factors that affect public participation in solid waste management. The survey result showed that the community can play a great role for better management of solid wastes by putting wastes in containers (38%), participate in waste management activities (34%), pay money for waste collectors (21%) and sorting wastes (7%). The majority of respondents (68.63%) replied that community conversation, awareness creation (22.88%) and enforcement mechanisms (8.49%) are better strategies for letting the community participate in solid waste management. The empirical evidence indicates a significant positive impact of awareness, rules & regulations and social participation on public participation which has a positive impact on solid waste management, being significant at 5%, less than 1% and 5% of significance level, respectively.
