Excerpt from The Second Coming of Christ as Taught by Pre-Millenarians, Not in the Bible In making extracts from the published works of those writers, I will quote their own words, even at the risk of being thought tedious, as I wish to have every man's opinions fairly presented. Dr. Gill says: Christ is to descend into the air, and there to stay for some time until the dead saints are raised and the living believers are changed; and both brought up to Him there, and till the new heavens and new earth are made and prepared for Him and them then He and they will come down from the air to the earth, and they shall reign with Him on it a thousand years. He, Jesus, will be seen by all good men, on the earth, who will be changed, and by the dead, who will be raised, and both will be caught up together in the air to meet Him. Such will be the agility of His glorified body, that He will swiftly move from one end of heaven to the other as the lightning. Sudden destruction will come upon the wicked; but it will be a considerable time after the saints are caught up. Rev. J. D. Smith: It will be after the Lord has come for His people to the air, that He will come with His people to judge the earth. What will be the amount of time between the two events we can not say; but the coming to the air may be at any moment. The Jews are to be restored before His coming; and the tabernacle of David, which is fallen 'down, is to be set up.
