Book Description
In this slender volume, Rumi explores the joy of friendship and the agony of loss. These poetic meditations on the most profound of human relationships are like crystals: they sparkle with the many hues of the rainbow and contain worlds within, capturing us with their mystery. Here are poems that cause us to reflect on our own relationships, to experience again the intensity of friendship, the ache of loss, and the profundity of immersion. This is a book for poetry lovers, Rumi fans, and all gift-giving occasions; a book to treasure and to share. Previously published in hardcover as Whispers of the Beloved. Imitating others, I failed to find myself I looked inside and discovered I only knew my name. When I stepped outside I found my real Self. Replaces ISBN 9781571746825.

Book Description
This wide-ranging collection of inspirational poetry and prose offers readers solace, perspective, and the courage to persevere. In times of personal hardship or collective anxiety, words have the power to provide comfort, meaning, and hope. The past year has seen a resurgence of poetry and inspiring quotes—posted on social media, appearing on bestseller lists, shared from friend to friend. Honoring this communal spirit, How Lovely the Ruins is a timeless collection of both classic and contemporary poetry and short prose that can be of help in difficult times—selections that offer wisdom and purpose, and that allow us to step out of our current moment to gain a new perspective on the world around us as well as the world within. The poets and writers featured in this book represent the diversity of our country as well as voices beyond our borders, including Maya Angelou, W. H. Auden, Danez Smith, Rumi, Emily Dickinson, Naomi Shihab Nye, Alice Walker, Adam Zagajewski, Langston Hughes, Wendell Berry, Anna Akhmatova, Yehuda Amichai, and Robert Frost. And the book opens with a stunning foreword by Elizabeth Alexander, whose poem “Praise Song for the Day,” delivered at the inauguration of President Barack Obama, ushered in an era of optimism. In works celebrating our capacity for compassion, our patriotism, our right to protest, and our ability to persevere, How Lovely the Ruins is a beacon that illuminates our shared humanity, allowing us connection in a fractured world. Includes poetry, prose, and quotations from: Elizabeth Alexander • Marcus Aurelius • Karen Armstrong • Matthew Arnold • Ellen Bass • Brian Bilston • Gwendolyn Brooks • Elizabeth Barrett Browning • Octavia E. Book Description
Poor in Spirit: Guilty, Convicted, Redeemed by Uwe Glaubke is a stirring collection of poetry chronicling the author's journey through a period of soul searching. Included are heartfelt prayers seeking redemption for acts, which have brought a sense of guilt-drug and alcohol use, lies, and always wanting more from life. Glaubke incorporates bits of Scripture that lead to profound spiritual realizations. It is the author's hope other's may be inspired to allow themselves to search for and receive healing and deliverance through God's love and healing power. About the Author The author is a small businessman who tries to survive the economic crises in these times during the last three years as well as the loss of his mother and his current divorce, which is his third. He also had open-heart surgery five years ago. He says overcoming obstacles is daily, and no one is immune to struggles. Out of it all, it has brought a massive amount of guilt to the surface of his own. What you read is the purge of the journal inside us all. Although this is his first attempt at writing, he hopes the readers forgive him for his purge of life as the beginning of seeing things differently. He takes full responsibility for his place in life and blames no one for his struggles as he chooses to see only his part in it and the hope in doing things differently according to Christ's instructions at the base of The Sermon on The Mount. He is, as he believes we all are, "poor in spirit."
