Book Description
Holos Arts Project, Publishing Co., begins its Collection: Library of Classical Wisdom and Mysticism, with an important text on the study of theories of reincarnation: The Memory of Past Births, by Charles Johnston, scholar on the subject. It is a real honor to introduce readers attracted to topics of esotericism and mysticism, to this great author who, with a simple and accessible language for all audiences, presents in a bright and precise way, what is the process which the soul transits after leaving the material body, until reaching the new body in an eternal cycle of living and reincarnation. Similarly, throughout the book, the author explains the various theories available of the reasons why we do not remember our past lives, to finally provide his personal proposal for an effective process to recover and bring to the present such memories. Charles Johnston (1867–1931), originally from Northern Ireland, was a renowned writer, academic, and journalist. He was a founding member of the Dublin Hermetic Society in 1885 and joined the Dublin Theosophic Lodge in 1886. Later in his life, he became a member of the Civil Service in India, on behalf of the British Crown, where he had the opportunity to initiate one of his greatest passions: the translation of various literary jewels from the Sanskrit to the English language. This annotated edition of The Memory of Past Births, is now brought to the present, in a modern publication (Note from the editors: with editorial supervision by Isis Estrada, writer of Reiki: Manual with the Three Levels according to the teachings of Dr. Mikao Usui; and Spanish translator of The Great Initiates, by Edouard Schuré). The intention of Holos Arts Project is to relaunch texts of importance that not only have overcome the barrier of time and space, but that are also very current in terms of the topics and questions that still remain in the minds of the adept to mysticism: do we live many lives? And more importantly: what can we do to remember them? Johnston brilliantly brought the millenary knowledge acquired in his travels through the East, and presented it in his own time. with great focus and accuracy. Now, it is up to us not to allow his work to lose force, especially when it carries among its words an inexhaustible source of wisdom from which we are still thirsty. We present now, therefore, The Memory of Past Births, and we are certain it will become part of your favorite readings on the subjects of transmigration, as well as reincarnation of the soul.

European Cases of the Reincarnation Type
Author: Ian Stevenson, M.D.
Publisher: McFarland
ISBN: 1476601151
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 279
Book Description
Many cultures accept that a person may die and then come back to life in another form, but Westerners have traditionally rejected the idea. Recently, however, surveys conducted in Europe indicate a substantial increase in the number of Europeans who believe in reincarnation, and numerous claims of reincarnation have been reported. This book examines particular cases in Europe that are suggestive of reincarnation. The first section provides a brief history of the belief in reincarnation among Europeans. The second section considers eight cases from the first third of the twentieth century that were not independently investigated, but were reported and sometimes published by the persons concerned. The third section covers 32 cases from the second half of the twentieth century that were investigated by the author. Many of these cases involved either children who exhibited unusual behavior attributed to a previous life, or adults who experienced recurrent or vivid dreams attributed to a previous life. In the fourth section, the author compares European cases suggestive of reincarnation with those of other countries and cultures.

Kamala Das: A Poetess and A Thinker
Author:
Publisher: Vandana Publications
ISBN:
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 221
Book Description
When I was student of English literature in M.A. final, it was an ambition in my mind to write a book on Kamala Das. After hard endeavor I am able to write this book. I am aware of the fact, there are a few books purported to be full length studies of Kamala Das’s poetry available and there are also scores of articles and papers on the various aspects of her poetry that have appeared in literary journals or included in books on Indian writing in English. But the sweep of such publications appear to be very limited. In another words their views about Kamala Das’s poetry seem truncated. In this connection, I would like to cite up a story of six blind men. They went to acknowledge the elephant. Each one touched the different parts of the elephant. They touched the feet, the leg, the ear, the trunk and the tail. Each one was confident in one’s opinion. They quarreled among themselves for the recognition of the elephant. They all were right separately but all were wrong about the complete shape of the elephant. Such is the recognition of Kamala Das among the critics. Most critics agree, she is the poet of Love and Sex. No doubt, she had taken love and sex as objective correlative for her presentation. She has presented the prevailing evils of society. If we concentrate our mind on the writing of the literature, we get particular stimulus and response. We take Valmiki for his historical poetry. This harbinger of worldly Sanskrit literature keeps the pathetic vision for mankind’s destiny. He presents Ram in pathetic situation in course of life. He was exiled, Ravan alloped his wife Sita and in the last phase of his life he submerged in the river Saryu. Whatever may be the case, it is true, there is inspiration in every creative work. Kamala gets inspiration from discordancy of woman’s love. If we take the history of womankind as a writer, we get Love and Sex are deeply delved in the writing, therefore it is wrong to charge Kamala Das for the representation of Love and Sex. Kamala Das’s poetry has remarkable feature of its own. First, it marks the male and female relation in running society of the time in which the writer lives. What she has experienced in her private life, she universalised it for contemporary society. If obscenity is charged with her writing, it is worth marking, the term is elastic, it changes its form according to time, place and person. Here, we must take the realism of discordancy. One must know Kamala Das’s poetry follows the pattern of Nissim Ezekil and Ramanujan. It is most remarkable factor in the soul of Kamala Das’s poetry, in last phase of her poetry we get sublimation of Love i.e. in ‘Ghanshyam’ and ‘Vindravan’. She discovers the evil through her presentation of poetry and desires a harmonic and balanced love in society. There is magic of her art in her poetry- Indianness and Indian culture. I have presented it in the last chapter of the book. There is balance of content and art. Though she is not highly educated, she is expert in the portrait of poetry. This book begins with a seminal ‘Introduction’ following the ‘Background’, ‘Kamala Das: Singer of feminine sensibility’, ‘Autobiographical and Confessional Note in Kamala Das’s poetry’, ‘Protest Against – ‘Well established Social Conventions’. In the last chapter of ‘Evaluation’ her art is marked. Thanks to all whose works I have employed in my book. Afterall, I am grateful to my husband and parents who have provided me essential help of needed occasion. If Critics and Readers like my simple but honest thinking, it would be my ample reward. Thanks to God who guides me time to time in the form of man.

On Freud's Constructions in Analysis
Author: Sergio Lewkowicz
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 0429902573
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 220
Book Description
In Constructions in Analysis Freud introduces the notion of constructions, different from interpretation, and considers it necessary - under certain conditions - to reconstruct a part of the infantile history of the subject. The difference between construction and reconstruction as well as which should be the limit of the intervention of the analyst in order to avoid a proposal far removed from the patient discourse, are a part of present debates on this subject. The editors, together with the contributors to this volume, accepted the challenge to consider Freudian ideas and its implications nowadays.
