Book Description
Does the Holy Spirit do the same things now and in the New Testament times that He did in Old Testament times? Volume one in the NEW AMERICAN COMMENTARY STUDIES IN BIBLE AND THEOLOGY series for pastors, advanced Bible students, and other deeply committed laypersons addresses this challenging subject. God’s Indwelling Presence asks and explores to answer: What are the spiritual differences and similarities between Old Testament and New Testament believers? Did God dwell in Old Testament believers as He does in New Testament believers? Were Old Testament believers born again (that is, experience regeneration)? What do the words indwelling and regeneration mean? How is the Holy Spirit’s ministry similar or different during Old Testament and New Testament times? Users will find this an excellent extension of the long-respected NEW AMERICAN COMMENTARY.

Book Description
PREFACE THE foIlowing pages abtiously do not contain a systematic statment of the Christian doctrine of the Holy Spirit. They contain suggestions only, not a comprehnsiv survey of a great-properly speaking subject. Greater completeness in the study of this topic is indeed most desirable, but perhaps completness of plan and systematic outline are not the chief requisites in an attempt to describe the influence upon the human spirit of that Divine Breath which bloneth -here it lists, and whose chief characeristic it is to surpass human thought and expectation. Complaints have been frequently made as to the lack of adequate treatment of this central doctrine of Christianity, a deficiency largely remedied of late by orks such as are named In the selected list of books that follows. The holy Spirit is God imparting himself directly to the conscisusness and experience of men. Hence the subject is approached in this volume from the side of experien., rather than of dogma of Biblical exposition, rather than of philosophical discussion of life and practice, rather than of thcologicnl speculation. An attempt is, honever, indirectly made to show that the Christian doctrine of the Holy Spirit meets the needs of modern religious life better than certain philasophical religious theorizings that ignore or disparage the teaching of the New testament. The connection between the various chapters which compose the body, though not logically close, is real and vital and it will be seen that some of the chief aspects of the work of the Spirit that are of present-day importance have been either directly or indirectly treated. The writers deep conviction is, that greater ernplais needs to be laid upon Gods worth in man, the presence of Christ, by and through the Spirit, in the hearts and lives of Christians, even if it be at the expense of interesting questions of doctrine that are of necessity largely speculative...........

Book Description
Who Is the Holy Spirit—and Why Do You Need Him in Your Life? After His crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus gave His disciples an assignment to change the world—but told them to wait until the power of the Holy Spirit had come upon them before setting out. His charge to modern-day believers is no different: To do the works that Jesus did (and even greater ones, as He said), it is imperative that we operate from the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. But Who is this mysterious Third Person of the Trinity? How do we get this power, and what are we to do with it when we receive it? Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network and beloved longtime host of The 700 Club, tackles these questions and many others in this, the final book of a life that is now in its ninth decade. Robertson traces the path of the Holy Spirit through both the Old and New Testaments, and shares stories from his own life and that of many 700 Club viewers testifying to how the power of the Holy Spirit has miraculously freed and healed them today. If you want a better understanding of the Holy Spirit and are hungry to know more about the power that is available through Him to every Christfollower today, this book is for you.
