Excerpt from The Imperial Gazetteer of Scotland, or Dictionary of Scottish Topography, Vol. 2: Compiled From the Most Recent Authorities, and Forming a Complete Body of Scottish Geography, Physical, Statistical, and Historical; Gordon-Zetland Gourdon, a fishing-village in the parish of Bervie, 11 mile south of the town of Bervie, Hincar dineshire. It has about 20 boats employed variously in fishing, and is also a shipping lace for grain, and a place of import for coals, ime, and other common bulky articles. Its harbour was improved a few years a 0, at a cost of about and now serves as a p ace of commerce for a tract of sea boardintermediate between Stonehaven and Mon trose. Vessels drawing 12 feet of water can enter it at ebb tide, and'lie at anchor till the flood carry them to the point of the quay, where it rises 17 feet. Contiguous to the harbour are several lar e excel lent ranaries, with extensive sheds for ime, &c. Po u' ation, 'about 250.
