Book Description
Converts in the Dead Sea Scrolls examines the meaning of the term gēr in the Dead Sea Scrolls. While often interpreted as a resident alien, this study of the term as it is employed within scriptural rewriting in the Dead Sea Scrolls concludes that the gēr is a Gentile convert to Judaism. Contrasting the gēr in the Dead Sea Scrolls against scriptural predecessors, Carmen Palmer finds that a conversion is possible by means of mutable ethnicity. Furthermore, mutable features of ethnicity in the sectarian movement affiliated with the Dead Sea Scrolls include shared kinship, connection to land, and common culture in the practice of circumcision. The sectarian movement is not as closed toward Gentiles as has been commonly considered.

Book Description
Long overshadowed by Luther and Calvin, Philipp Melanchthon (1497–1560) is nevertheless one of the most important figures in the Protestant Reformation. Reformer, humanist, theologian, philosopher, ecumenist, and teacher of pastors—Melanchthon had a profound effect on the sweep of Western church history. This book gives the most detailed English-language biographical treatment of Melanchthon to date, moving from his historical context and family of origin, through his childhood, education, and early career at Wittenberg during the dramatic events at the dawn of the Reformation (1497–1524).

Book Description
A beautifully illustrated, full-color guide to scrolls and their uses in medieval life. Scrolls have always been shrouded by a kind of aura, a quality of somehow standing outside of time. They hold our attention with their age, beauty, and perplexing format. Beginning in the fourth century, the codex—or book—became the preferred medium for long texts. Why, then, did some people in the Middle Ages continue to make scrolls? In The Role of the Scroll, music professor and historian Thomas Forrest Kelly brings to life the most interesting scrolls in medieval history, placing them in the context of those who made, commissioned, and used them, and reveals their remarkably varied uses. Scrolls were the best way to keep ever-expanding lists, for example, those of debtors, knights, and the dead, the names of whom were added to existing rolls of parchment through the process of “enrollment.” While useful for keeping public records, scrolls could also be extremely private. Forgetful stage performers relied on them to recall their lines—indeed, “role” comes from the French word for scroll—and those looking for luck carried either blessings or magic spells, depending on their personal beliefs. Finally, scrolls could convey ceremonial importance, a purpose that lives on with academic diplomas. In these colorful pages, Kelly explores the scroll’s incredible diversity and invites us to examine showy court documents for empresses and tiny amulets for pregnant women. A recipe for turning everyday metal into gold offers a glimpse into medieval alchemy, and a log of gifts for Queen Elizabeth I showcases royal flattery and patronage. Climb William the Conqueror’s family tree and take a journey to the Holy Land using a pilgrimage map marked with such obligatory destinations as Jaffa, where Peter resurrected Tabitha, and Ramada, the city of Saint Joseph’s birth. A lively and accessible guide, The Role of the Scroll is essential reading—and viewing—for anyone interested in how people keep record of life through the ages.

Book Description
Lydia was seated on her bed reading her Bible on an ordinary August morning, oblivious of what she was about to hear and what would become her life from that day forward. Her son and nephew rushed into her bedroom. Her son was shouting, "Mum, there were two angels at the gate at night!" Her son was six years old at the time. He held her face and said, "I know the names of the two angels. They are called Angel Gabriel and Angel Michael." The two boys went on to say that Angel Michael was at the right side of the gate and was holding his sword facing upwards, while Angel Gabriel was on the left side of the gate and had his sword pointing downwards. She was amazed! How did they know the names of these two mighty archangels? Instantly, she realized that her son had had a supernatural encounter, together with his five-year-old cousin! This was the beginning of a series of incredible journeys with Jesus Christ. This book records their breathtaking trips to heaven and hell, their conversations with God the Father, their encounters with angels, relatives they met in heaven, and even the twenty-four elders who worship before the Throne of God all day and all night. These accounts will reveal to you how God is using children to bring home the simple truth that the Bible is the Word of God, heaven is real, and the only way to get there is through Jesus Christ, His Son.

Book Description
Want to know the truth about Bible prophecy? Want to know and understand the prophecies of Jesus? Tired of hearing Bible prophecy predictions that never come true? This book will provide you with the real truth about Bible prophecy, including the following: · Old Testament prophecies of Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, and more. · New Testament prophecies of Jesus and the book of Revelation. · How the Jewish people and followers of Jesus understood the prophecies. · Understand Jewish culture, language, customs, and history. · Understand the true meaning of words or phrases in that time. · Understand the true meaning of the prophecies that were written. This book will provide the true meaning of all the Bible Prophecies! We must be able to understand history through the lens of the times in which they were written, not just how they are relevant in today’s news. It is vastly important that we understand Jewish culture, language, customs, and history, as well as the meaning of words and phrases in that time so we can understand the true meaning of the prophecies that were written. Without this understanding we are reading terms outside of their true meaning and can become confused on what the words of scripture are trying to reveal. We must recognize the use of symbolism is very prevalent in prophecy, and we should not interpret symbolism too literally or physically. Symbolism is widely used in both the Old and the New Testaments. We cannot allow ourselves to interpret symbolism as only a physical manifestation, if we do, we can twist the scriptures into unrealistic physical renderings that completely distort the true meaning of the writing, and we lose the intended meaning of the prophecy. “COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, A JOURNEY THROUGH PROPHECY,” explores the scriptures seeking the true meaning of Bible prophecy. All prophecy centers around Jesus, His kingdom, and His rule. The study of all prophecy must be Christ centered. As you read this book, you will gain true insight and understanding. Studying Bible prophecy is one of the most encouraging and faith-building adventures we can take. Bible prophecy gives us hope and keeps us anticipating the Lord’s return. I invite you to join me in this journey through Bible prophecy. Together we will come away with a clear understanding of what Bible prophecy is all about. We will come away with a positive view of the end-times and with a greater hope for our future. When discussing His second coming, Jesus himself said no one knows the time, only the Father knows. It is not up to us to discover the time. It is up to us to be ready! If you really want to know the truth about Bible prophecy, read my book today!
