Excerpt from A New General Biographical Dictionary, Vol. 11 of 12: Projected and Partly Arranged Pearson, (george, ) a physician and medical writer, was born in Derbyshire, and studied at the university, of Edin burgh. He took the degree of M.D. In 1773, and his thesis on that occasion, De Putredine, was inserted in the first vo lume of the Edinburgh Medical Oommen taries. In 1774 he removed to London, and studied at St. T homas's Hospital. The following year he went to the con tinent, and having travelled in France, Germany, and Holland, he returned to. England in 1777. He first settled as a physician at Doncaster, where he remained for about six years, and then removed to London, where he was chosen one of the physicians to St. George's Hospital, at which be for many years delivered lee tures on medicine, physiology, materia medica, and chemistry. He was also elected a fellow of the Royal Society, to whose Transactions he furnished several contributions. He died in 1828. He published, Observations and Experiments on the Buxton Waters; A Translation of the Table of Chemical Nomenclature drawn up by the French Chemists; and, An Inquiry concerning the History of the Cow Pox.
