Book Description
This book offers a foreign reader an overview and understanding of the most important aspects of the law and legal system in Sweden, from the legal institutions to more specific topics such as contract law, tort law and family law. These presentations are not exhaustive but rather meant to give the reader a sufficient enough understanding to be somewhat orientated in the Swedish legal system. The book is written for non-Swedish practitioners faced with a specific legal issue involving Swedish law. It is also addressed to foreign law students in need of an overview of the Swedish legal system in order to help them in their further studies at Swedish universities.

TO SWEDISH LAW VOLUME I AN INTRODUCTION TO SWEDISH LAW VOLUME I EDITED BY STIG STROMHOLM SPRINGER SCIENCE+BUSINESS MEDIA, LLC ISBN 978-94-017-4349-5 ISBN 978-94-017-4347-1 (eBook) DOI 10. 1007/978-94-017-4347-1 ©Springer Science+Business Media New York 1981 Originally published by Kluwer Deventer, The Netherlands in 1981 Softcoverreprint ofthe hardcover 1st edition 1981 All rights reserved. No part ofthis publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or Iransmitted in any form by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopy ing, recording or otherwise, without the prior written permission ofthe publisher. EDITOR'S PREFACE The purpose of this book is to provide a fairly broad survey of the Swedish legal system. In order to avoid possible disappointment, it would seem important to make clear from the outset what kind of questions the authors propose to answer and what groups of readers they are addressing. The easiest way to do this is to set out what we are not purporting to do. Thus, the book is not intended to serve as a primer for students who possess no knowledge of "the law", i. e. of the concepts, ideas and solutions of at least one legal system. Nor is it the purpose of the authors to give practitioners the kind of precise, techni cal answers to isolated questions that they need when advising their clients on the proper course of action in business, or litigation, con ducted within the framework of the legal system described.

Book Description
The present book is an updated version of the very favourably received book Swedish Law in the New Millennium, published in 2000. It contains a summary presentation of the Swedish legal system, written by leading Swedish experts in their respective legal fields. It is intended to be used by foreign law students participating in introductory courses in Swedish law, foreign legal professionals looking for fundamental information about the Swedish approach to a particular legal problem and Swedish lawyers when communicating with foreign colleagues. While the book can be read from cover to cover, each chapter can also be read independently. The space constraints make simplification unavoidable, but at the end of each chapter there is a bibliographical notice providing suggestions for further reading.

Book Description
How 'free' is the free movement of persons? Why does the law that enables it need to be 'revisited'? This collection of essays, curated by Claire Kilpatrick and Joanne Scott for the European University Institute's 2020 Academy of European Law, addresses these questions. Across different examples - migration, posted workers, social security, Brexit, and Union citizenship - each chapter revisits the categories that have become entrenched in EU law on the free movement of persons and the boundaries that have been constructed as a result. Do they still represent meaningful differences? Are they valuable compass points or inhibitors of progress? Do they ensure comprehensive or fragmented protection of the person? In reconsidering the fundamentals of EU free movement law, the book draws attention to tensions that have not yet been properly resolved: between appropriate difference and problematic discrimination, or between the mythology and the experienced reality of free movement for the people who actually move. Its chapters consider how the free movement of persons connects to and is shaped by the EU legal spaces beyond free movement as well as by the space beyond law. The contributors do not shy away from provoking a rethink of core principles. They interrogate these fundamentals and the changing objectives of the free movement of persons to take up the challenge of doing it better: of making it both more protective of people and more resilient in ethical, systemic, and sociological terms.

Book Description
The purpose of this book is to present to lawyers outside Sweden an introduction to Private International Law as applied in Sweden. As in the original Swedish version, (Internationell Privatriitt. Metod och Material, Stockholm 1962), emphazis is put on the structure and func tioning of conflict law, and the book does not attempt to present a comprehensive survey of Swedish conflict rules. A resume of these rules has, however, been included in the English edition. The author wants to express his thanks to those who have helped to make possible the publication of this book. Generous support was given by the Swedish State Council for Social Science Research. Dr. Stig Stromholm, Uppsala, prepared the translation into English of the original Swedish text. Some alterations were subsequently made in the, English version, including minor deletions of material which had ap peared in the Swedish original and the addition of some new material, including the whole of present chapter IV. The English text as a whole was finally revised by the author with the help, in the case of chapters I, IV, V and part of chapter II, of Mrs. Helen Moats Eek (Ph. D. , University of Chicago) and, in the case of chapter III and part of chapter II, of Mr. Richard Cox (B. Sc. Econ (Hons. ), F. R. Econ. Soc. ). Valua:ble assistance, particularly in the preparation of the bibliography and the index, was given also by Mr. Lars Lindgren (LL.
