Man-Made Catastrophic and Humongous Global Disasters
Author: D. Raveendranathan
Publisher: Notion Press
ISBN: 1646507681
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 216
Book Description
Global Adverse Manifestation’ has been created to the maximum extent of catastrophic and humongous disasters throughout India, and it is ‘manmade’, which is unfortunate. Similarly, all other greenhouse gas emissions are generated in excess by the floccinaucinihilipilification activities of Homo sapiens causing humongous disasters. If we conduct a detailed study, most of these disasters are also attributed by coercive practices of the ecosystem and the Government without getting concurrence from the public. Man-Made Catastrophic and Humongous Global Disasters delineates hurricanes, cyclones, hail storms, typhoons, tornados, landslides, flood havocs, droughts, fire hazards, etc. as natural disasters caused due to climate change. Therefore, it is our responsibility to keep a pollution-free country for the survival of human beings from catastrophic and humongous disasters.

Species adaptability trials for man-made forests in Hawaii
Author: Craig D. Whitesell
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Afforestation
Languages : en
Pages : 36
Book Description
The performance of 90 species, mostly from the tropics and subtropics, was appraised in field trials for 5 years. Planting sites ranged from near sea level to 6360 feet (1940 m) elevation; rainfall from less than 20 inches to more than 200 inches (500 to 5000 mm); and soils from thin mucks overlaying lava rock to deep, highly leached latosols. Thirty-two hardwoods and 10 conifers were rated as promising for either timber production, watershed production, erosion control, or amenity plantings. Fourteen are native to Australia, and are eucalypts. Few of the high quality timber species tested proved well adapted, with low soil fertility the primary limiting factor. Very few trees died from disease or insect attack.

Book Description
My father says there has been a forest here for over a hundred million years," Jeannie Baker's young protagonist tells us, and we follow him on a visit to this tropical rain forest in North Queensland, Australia. We walk with him among the ancient trees as he pretends it is a time long ago, when extinct and rare animals lived in the forest and aboriginal children played there. But for how much longer will the forest still be there, he wonders? Jeannie Baker's lifelike collage illustrations take the reader on an extraordinary visual journey to an exotic, primeval wilderness, which like so many others is now being threatened by civilization.

The Man-Made World
Author: Charlotte Perkins Gilman
Publisher: Graphic Arts Books
ISBN: 1513274821
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 103
Book Description
The Man-Made World (1911) is a sociological study by American author and feminist Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Inspired by her work as a social reformer and advocate for women’s suffrage, Gilman sought to write a work of nonfiction that explained the effects of patriarchy not only on the lives of women, but on the structure and health of society at large. In the beginning, Gilman observes that though biology naturally attributes motherhood and fatherhood to women and men respectively, there is no evolutionary explanation for the widespread control of men over all other human activities. This inequity, Gilman explains, is what she means by the term “Androcentric Culture,” a culture organized by men, for men. Having established her thesis, Gilman dedicates chapters to such topics as the family, health, art, sports, religion, education, government, economics, and warfare in order to observe the impact of male domination on each. Ultimately, Gilman asks what, if anything, will men lose if women are granted the rights and responsibilities they have no reason not to share. The Man-Made World is a thorough and powerful experiment in sociological thought and a groundbreaking work of feminist nonfiction. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Man-Made World is a classic of American literature and nonfiction reimagined for modern readers.
