The notes in the first edi tion have been carefully revised; and considerable additions have been made with reference to the de cisions of the Courts, and points which have arisen in the practical working of elections by ballot. Having regard to the important provisions with respect to Municipal Elections contained in the Cor rupt Practices (municipal Elections) Act, 1872, it has been considered desirable to give that Act in the Appendix. The recent Instructions of the Education Department as to the charges of Returning Officers in conducting School Board Elections under the Ballot Act are also added.
