This recognizes that no business is an island and competition is increasingly taking place between business networks and no longer between individual companies. A variety of aspects is relevant for designing and understanding smart business ecosystems. They reach from new business models, value chains and processes to all aspects of analytical, social and enterprise applications and platforms as well as cyber-physical infrastructures. The 33 full and 1 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 87 submissions. They are grouped into sections on ecosystems; big and smart data; smart infrastructures; process management; business and enterprise modeling; service science; social media; and applications.

Book Description
As developers know, the beauty of XML is that it is extensible, even to the point that you can invent new elements and attributes as you write XML documents. Then, however, you need to define your changes so that applications will be able to make sense of them and this is where XML schema languages come into play. RELAX NG (pronounced relaxing), the Regular Language Description for XML Core--New Generation is quickly gaining momentum as an alternative to other schema languages. Designed to solve a variety of common problems raised in the creation and sharing of XML vocabularies, RELAX NG is less complex than The W3C's XML Schema Recommendation and much more powerful and flexible than DTDs.RELAX NG is a grammar-based schema language that's both easy to learn for schema creators and easy to implement for software developers In RELAX NG, developers are introduced to this unique language and will learn a no-nonsense method for creating XML schemas. This book offers a clear-cut explanation of RELAX NG that enables intermediate and advanced XML developers to focus on XML document structures and content rather than battle the intricacies of yet another convoluted standard.RELAX NG covers the following topics in depth: Introduction to RELAX NG Building RELAX NG schemas using XML syntax Building RELAX NG schemas using compact syntax, an alternative non-XML syntax Flattening schemas to limit depth and provide reusability Using external datatype libraries with RELAX NG W3C XML Schema regular expressions Writing extensible schemas Annotating schemas Generating schemas form different sources Determinism and datatype assignment and much more.If you're looking for a schema language that's easy to use and won't leave you in a labyrinth of obscure limitations, RELAX NG is the language you should be using. And only O'Reilly's RELAX NG gives you the straightforward information and everything else you'll need to take advantage of this powerful and intelligible language.

Book Description
This book demonstrates service-oriented architecture (SOA) as a concrete discipline rather than a hopeful collection of cloud charts. Built upon the author's firsthand experience rolling out a SOA at a major corporation, SOA in Practice explains how SOA can simplify the creation and maintenance of large-scale applications. Whether your project involves a large set of Web Services-based components, or connects legacy applications to modern business processes, this book clarifies how -- and whether -- SOA fits your needs. SOA has been a vision for years. This book brings it down to earth by describing the real-world problems of implementing and running a SOA in practice. After defining SOA's many facets, examining typical use patterns, and exploring how loose coupling helps build stronger applications, SOA in Practice presents a framework to help you determine when to take advantage of SOA. In this book you will: Focus squarely on real deployment and technology, not just standards maps Examine business problems to determine which ones fit a SOA approach before plastering a SOA solution on top of them Find clear paths for building solutions without getting trapped in the mire of changing web services details Gain the experience of a systems analyst intimately involved with SOA "The principles and experiences described in this book played an important role in making SOA at T-Mobile a success story, with more than 10 million service calls per day." --Dr. Steffen Roehn, Member of the Executive Committee T-Mobile International (CIO) "Nicolai Josuttis has produced something that is rare in the over-hyped world of SOA; a thoughtful work with deep insights based on hands-on experiences. This book is a significant milestone in promoting practical disciplines for all SOA practitioners." --John Schmidt, Chairman, Integration Consortium "The book belongs in the hands of every CIO, IT Director and IT planning manager." --Dr. Richard Mark Soley, Chairman and CEO, Object Management Group; Executive Director, SOA Consortium

Book Description
Web engineering is a new discipline that addresses the pressing need for syst- atic and tool-supported approaches for the development, maintenance and te- ing of Web applications. Web engineering builds upon well-known and succe- ful software engineering principles and practices, adapting them to the special characteristics of Web applications. Even more relevant is the enrichment with methods and techniques stemming from related areas like hypertext authoring, human-computer interaction, content management, and usability engineering. The goal of the 4th International Conference on Web Engineering (ICWE 2004), inlinewiththepreviousICWEconferences,wastoworktowardsabetterund- standing of the issues related to Web application development. Special attention was paid to emerging trends, technologies and future visions, to help the a- demic and industrial communities identify the most challenging tasks for their research and projects. Following a number of successful workshops on Web engineering since 1997 at well-known conferences, such as ICSE and WWW, the ?rst conference on Web engineering was held in C ́ aceres, Spain in 2001. It was followed by ICWE 2002 in Santa Fe, Argentina and ICWE 2003 in Oviedo, Spain. In 2004 ICWE moved to the center of Europe and was held in Munich, Germany from July 26 to 30. ICWE 2004 was organized by the Institute for Informatics of the Ludwig- Maximilians-Universit ̈ at (LMU) Munich. The ICWE 2004 edition received a total of 204 submissions, out of which 25 paperswereselectedbytheProgramCommitteeasfullpapers(12%acceptance).
