Book Description
Excerpt from The Ring of Amethyst "The Ring and the Book." The Ring. - To George Eliot. As she, thy Dorothea, loved of thee, Refused to wear in careless ornament The amethysts and emeralds that lent Their charm to other women; - even as she, Turning one day by chance the golden key Of their close casket, started as they sent Swift, glowing rays to greet her, and then bent To lift them in her white hands lovingly; - O great of heart, so calmly dost thou stand In the proud splendor of thy fame, and bring Thy glorious gifts to all the listening land, - Thou canst not greatly care what I may sing! Yet since I hold to thee my amethyst ring, Take it one little moment in thy hand! About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
The Amethyst Ring: A Translation By B. Drillien Edited By Frederic Chapman This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards: 1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions. 2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentional\unintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work. We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPPY READING!

Book Description
Excerpt from The Rose in the Ring These men trudged or stumbled along the slip pery road which Skirted the mountain's base. Soggy, unseen farm lands and gardens to their left, Stygian forests above and to their right. Ahead, the far-distant will-o-the - wisp flicker of many lights, blinking in the foggy shroud. Three or four miles lay between the sullen travelers and the town that cradled itself in the lower end Of the valley. Night had stolen early upon the dour spring day. The tall man who led carried a rickety, ill - smelling lantern that sent its feeble rays no farther ahead than a dozen paces; it served best to reveal the face of the huge silver watch which frequently was drawn from its owner's coat pocket. Book Description
Excerpt from A Snapt Gold Ring, Vol. 1 of 2 If London streets are tolerable at any time, they are tolerable in the cheerful bustle of early evening, when in the main thoroughfares carriage traffic is lessened, when shopping is over, when the stress of daily occupations is past, and the stream of middle - class life, released from counter and work-room, sets briskly westward for an hour of exercise in the fresher air of suburb or park. So thought Paul Warner, as he stood by the door of his club, in Hanover Square, about eight o'clock on a July evening, and considered what he should do.
