Book Description
- This book includes all 10 illustrations by Howard Chandler Christi from the 1911 book printing by THE BOBBS-MERRILL COMPANY PUBLISHERS INDIANAPOLIS. Often called the American Agatha Christie, Mary Roberts Rinehart was a prolific author who wrote hundreds of books, short stories, poems, travelogues, plays, and special articles. While many of her books were best-sellers, critics were most appreciative of her murder mysteries. Many of her books and plays were adapted for movies. Contrasting with her well-known straight mysteries, Rinehart's Letitia "Tish" Carberry books are comedy mixed, not always, with mystery. Famous in her day, Tish inspired many book characters of elderly women who defy stereotype. "The Amazing Adventures of Letitia Carberry" is the first "Tish" book and contains one novella, by the same title as the book, and two long short stories, "Three Pirates of Penzance" and "That Awful Night."
