Book Description
Excerpt from The Acts Relating to Building Societies, Vol. 1 of 7: Comprising the Act of 1836, and the Building Societies Act, 1874, 1875, 1877, 1884, and the Treasury Regulations, 1884, With an Introduction, Copious Notes, Precedents of Rules and Assurances In the following pages the object has been to present in a concise and convenient form, the whole law relating to Building Societies. All the Statutes on the subject are printed in extense, with copious notes, together with the Regulations issued by the Treasury in December, 1884, and the Act of Sederunt, published in 1882, for regulating the proceedings in liquidations in the Sheriff Courts of Scotland. All cases have been cited which throw any light on the rights, duties and liabilities of these Societies, their Members, and those who act on their behalf; and references have invariably been given to all the Reports. A Precedent of Pules and some Precedents of Assurances have also been added. The Author trusts that the book will be found of use to the large and increasing class of persons who are interested in Building Societies, and to those who have the responsibility of advising them.
