The Fifth Western Novel MEGAPACK ®: 4 Novels of the Old West
Author: Walter A. Tompkins
Publisher: Wildside Press LLC
ISBN: 1479407011
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 707
Book Description
The Western Novel MEGAPACKTM series returns with its fifth rip-roaring installment! Here are four more great western novels: MANHUNT WEST, by Walker A. Tompkins ... Fleeing a posse, Cleve Logan boards a riverboat loaded with outlaws. Hands are dealt in a desperate game -- and Death will take the last trick! THE RENEGADE HILLS, by Allan K. Echols ... Saddle up -- and ride hell-bent-for-leather down the trail to a hidden valley -- but keep your guns loose in your holsters, 'cause you're riding to an outlaw showdown in the Renegade Hills! LAST-CHANCE RANGE, by Dean Owen ... Byrd Elkhart called the Territory his private range. He strung his barbed wire across forty miles of it, and the other ranchers just stood by with their tails between their legs. But then a different breed of man showed up in the person of Clay Janner, of Texas -- and he was going to drive his scrawny herd over the range even if he had to turn the whole Territory into a six-gun shambles! POWDER SMOKE, by Jackson Gregory ... "Double pay," Bart Warbuck told his gunmen, "and give hundred more to the one who gets Jeff Cody!" -- It was as simple as that if you were Warbuck, had 30 killers on your payroll, and made the law whatever you wanted it to be. But it was hard to take if you were young Cody, and if the only gun you could rely on was the one in your belt. And if you alone could stop Bart Warbuck! If you enjoy this volume of classic Westerns, don't forget to search your favorite ebook store for "Wildside Press Megapack" to see the 220+ other entries in this series, including not just historical fiction, but mysteries, adventure, science fiction, fantasy, horror -- and much, much more!

Square Deal Sanderson, the Original Classic Western Novel
Author: Charles Alden Seltzer
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9781511527828

Languages : en
Pages : 152
Book Description
An hour before, Deal Sanderson had opened his eyes. He had been comfortably wrapped in his blanket; his head had been resting on a saddle seat. His sleep over, he had discovered that the saddle seat felt hard to his cheek. In changing his position he had awakened. His face toward the east, he had seen a gray streak widening on the horizon-a herald of the dawn. Sanderson found what seemed to be a softer spot on the saddle, snuggled himself in the blanket, and went to sleep again. Of course he had not neglected to take one sweeping glance around the camp while awake, and that one glance had convinced him that the camp was in order. The fire had long since gone out-there was a heap of white ashes to mark the spot where it had been. His big brown horse-Streak-unencumbered by rope or leather, was industriously cropping the dew-laden blades of some bunch-grass within a dozen yards of him; and the mighty desolation of the place was as complete as it had seemed when he had pitched his camp the night before. Sanderson reveled in the luxury of complete idleness. He grinned at the widening streak of dawn as he closed his eyes. There would be no vitriolic-voiced cook to bawl commands at him this morning. And no sour-faced range boss to issue curt orders. In an hour or so-perhaps in two hours-Sanderson would crawl out of his blanket, get his own breakfast, and ride northeastward. He was a free agent now, and would be until he rode in to the Double A to assume his new duties.

Crooked Trails, the Original Classic Western Novel
Author: Frederic Remington
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9781511559089
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 102
Book Description
"You have heard about the Texas Rangers?" said the Deacon to me one night in the San Antonio Club. "Yes? Well, come up to my rooms, and I will introduce you to one of the old originals-dates 'way back in the 'thirties'-there aren't many of them left now-and if we can get him to talk, he will tell you stories that will make your eyes hang out on your shirt front." We entered the Deacon's cosey bachelor apartments, where I was introduced to Colonel "Rip" Ford, of the old-time Texas Rangers. I found him a very old man, with a wealth of snow-white hair and beard-bent, but not withered. As he sunk on his stiffened limbs into the arm-chair, we disposed ourselves quietly and almost reverentially, while we lighted cigars. We began the approaches by which we hoped to loosen the history of a wild past from one of the very few tongues which can still wag on the days when the Texans, the Co-manches, and the Mexicans chased one another over the plains of Texas, and shot and stabbed to find who should inherit the land.
