Book Description
Today, one out of every three Americans uses some form of alternative medicine, either along with their conventional (“standard,” “traditional”) medications or in place of them. One of the most controversial–as well as one of the most popular–alternatives is homeopathy, a wholly Western invention brought to America from Germany in 1827, nearly forty years before the discovery that germs cause disease. Homeopathy is a therapy that uses minute doses of natural substances–minerals, such as mercury or phosphorus; various plants, mushrooms, or bark; and insect, shellfish, and other animal products, such as Oscillococcinum. These remedies mimic the symptoms of the sick person and are said to bring about relief by “entering” the body’s “vital force.” Many homeopaths believe that the greater the dilution, the greater the medical benefit, even though often not a single molecule of the original substance remains in the solution. In Copeland’s Cure, Natalie Robins tells the fascinating story of homeopathy in this country; how it came to be accepted because of the gentleness of its approach–Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow were outspoken advocates, as were Louisa May Alcott, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Daniel Webster. We find out about the unusual war between alternative and conventional medicine that began in 1847, after the AMA banned homeopaths from membership even though their medical training was identical to that of doctors practicing traditional medicine. We learn how homeopaths were increasingly considered not to be “real” doctors, and how “real” doctors risked expulsion from the AMA if they even consulted with a homeopath. At the center of Copeland's Cure is Royal Samuel Copeland, the now-forgotten maverick senator from New York who served from 1923 to 1938. Copeland was a student of both conventional and homeopathic medicine, an eye surgeon who became president of the American Institute of Homeopathy, dean of the New York Homeopathic Medical College, and health commissioner of New York City from 1918 to 1923 (he instituted unique approaches to the deadly flu pandemic). We see how Copeland straddled the worlds of politics (he befriended Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, and Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, among others) and medicine (as senator, he helped get rid of medical “diploma mills”). His crowning achievement was to give homeopathy lasting legitimacy by including all its remedies in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938. Finally, the author brings the story of clashing medical beliefs into the present, and describes the role of homeopathy today and how some of its practitioners are now adhering to the strictest standards of scientific research–controlled, randomized, double-blind clinical studies.

Book Description
This book traces the genesis, principles and practice of homeopathy, and discusses the reasons for its enduring popularity. Two hundred years ago, medicine had little to offer except blood letting and the administration of violent purgatives – practices which shortened the course of illness by hastening the death of the patient. Largely in reaction to what he correctly saw as the brutality and ineffectiveness of the medicine of his day, the eighteenth century German physician Samuel Hahnemann developed a system of therapeutics that he termed homeopathy. Ironically, while modern medicine has changed beyond recognition, homeopathy, with its roots in alchemy and metaphysics, continues to be practiced precisely as it was in Hahnemann’s day. Readers of this book will enjoy the story of homeopathy and its almost magical attraction, whilst learning much from the authors' rational and scientific discussion of the biological, chemical and psychological questions that this treatment raises.

Book Description
*** OVER 35,000 COPIES SOLD *** In the 1870s, Dr. Wilhelm Schuessler revolutionized German homeopathic medicine. A homeopathic physician, Dr. Schuessler believed that the approximately 2,000 remedies of his day could be simplified. After the doctor determined that effective ingredients in the remedies were their mineral constituents, he isolated these components and developed twelve individual remedies—the Schuessler cell salts—that are essential to maintaining health. Homeopathic Cell Salt Remedies is a simple yet comprehensive guide to the history, theory, and use of cell salts. Part One provides a history of Dr. Schuessler’s discovery, a brief overview of each cell salt, and comprehensive instructions for using the remedies. Part Two features a Simplified Remedy Guide offering an A-to-Z listing of common disorders and their remedies. This is followed by a detailed discussion of each of the cell salts. Rounding out the book are a chapter on using cell salts for youth and beauty, a glossary of terms, and a resource list of firms that sell the remedies. At a time when millions are rediscovering the many benefits of homeopathic medicine, Homeopathic Cell Salt Remedies provides a valuable introduction to the safe and effective use of cell salts.

Book Description
This volume includes the full Health Technology Assessment (HTA) report on effectiveness, appropriateness, safety and costs of homoeopathy in health care. The report was commissioned by the Swiss health authorities to inform decision-making on the further inclusion of homoeopathy in the list of services covered by statutory health insurance. Other studies carried out as part of the Swiss Complementary Medicine Evaluation Programme (PEK) caused a massive stir due to their schematic and exclusively quantitative (negative-)outcomes for homoeopathy. The present report, in contrast, offers a differentiated evaluation of the practice of homoeopathy in health care. It confirms homoeopathy as a valuable addition to the conventional medical landscape – a status it has been holding for a long time in practical health care.

Book Description
This is a book that is going to rock you back on your heels and get you thinking along new lines. It will enable you to lift up your life and get free of the social conditioning that has been crippling us all for thousands of years. In addition, the book will show you how many of the complications to health brought about by medical procedures and drugs over the last century, based on false understandings, can be resolved. Ten common homeopathic remedues in very high (mega) potencies, can release commonly stored emotions, attitudes, and false beliefs, thus allowing the body to heal itself of a wide range of physical complaints. Read what these crippling beliefs are, how they have allowed us to be led along, like lambs to the slaughter, by the nose, into a cul-de-sac of personal, social, and medical ignorance -and what you do to get your life back on track. Healing your emotions, freeing yourself or your accumulated emotional baggage, and getting your life on track, is not traumatic, not a slow process, and does not require intense investigation into your childhood nor the re-experiencing of harrowing traumas. It does not require hours or years of counseling, psychology, hypnosis, auto-suggestion, religious conversion, past-life therapy, meditation, vegetarianism, self-analysis, relationship analysis, praying, New Year resolutions, will-power, months in the wilderness or sailing singlehanded around the world. Getting Back On Track shows you the true healing. Not the way to unrestrained, detrimental emotions, not the way to violent outbursts of anger of floods of tears of grief, not the way to guilt-free irresponsibility. None of these is healthy, either. What you will get is personal growth, so that new insight gives you freedom from anger, freedom from grief, freedom from guilt, freedom from fear, and with this freedom, a new strength to take positive steps towards your own, and therefore planetary, healing. Jill R. Turland studied homeopathy in Sydney, Australia under the late Alan Jones, and the Australian Institute of Homeopathy, graduating in 1982. She held various positions within the Australian Institute of Homeopathy and in 1987, initiated and edited for four years the prestigious academic journal, 'Sirnilia'. Jill has been associated for many years with osteopaths and chiropractors and has worked since 1990 with Bryan Barrass, an osteopath and chiropractor with a great interest in homeopathy. Together they have researched the homeopathic remedies applicable to muscular and skeletal patterns, and the emotional origins of these patterns. Through this knowledge, many complex, chronic physical problems have been resolved, and understanding of the psychological aspects of common homeopathic remedies expanded beyond existing boundaries.

Book Description
'Homeopathy for Childhood Diseases' is a collection of four books which are easy-to-use practical guides for prescribing safe, non-toxic homeopathic remedies for the common symptoms of measles, mumps, chickenpox or whooping cough. Homeopathy treats the person not the disease. Homeopathic remedies have no side-effects and, when prescribed correctly, cannot weaken your child's immune system. These books do not discourage essential treatment for conditions for which medical supervision should be sought, and parents and guardians are encouraged to make their own well-informed decisions regarding vaccinations. 'Homeopathy for Childhood Diseases' is written in an easy-to-follow style and recommends between eight to ten of the most effective homeopathic remedies in the 30c potency for the common symptoms of four childhood diseases. Homeopathic remedy descriptions are short and self-explanatory. Readers may find the 'Self-Help' sections especially useful as they also explain how to recognize and deal with any complications. Care and safety of the child are paramount and professional medical help, including classical homeopaths, is advised should problems arise. A choice of international specialist suppliers of homeopathic remedies is included to help locate remedies in various countries. Another important addition is a simple three-step guide to observing and classifying reactions after giving remedies, with follow-up actions if necessary. These suggestions concur with the principles of classical homeopathy to ensure optimal success in prescribing. 'Homeopathy for Childhood Diseases' also contains additional informative chapters/sections like 'Brief History and Explanation of Homeopathy', 'Some Useful Contacts', and 'Suggested Reading'. This book is interspersed with color photographs and pertinent quotations.
