Book Description
Volume 5 of the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera focuses on one of the megadiverse groups of the animal kingdom, the beetle superfamily Tenebrionoidea reported from the Palaearctic biogeographic region. For the genus and species-groups taxa all available names are given and all data relevant to nomenclature are cross-checked and the distribution of species and subspecies is given per country or smaller region. A group of 25 experts have worked to collect data based on a critical review of published sources including a significant amount of new information. This volume also provides a fix to the nomenclature, which warrants unambiguous communication. Contributors are: Kiyoshi Ando, Maxwell V. L. Barclay, A. Marco A. Bologna, Patrice Bouchard, Yves Bousquet, Ivan A. Chigray, Alain Drumont, V. Leonid Egorov, Jan Horák, Dariusz Iwan, Marcin J. Kamiński, Roman Królik, Daniel Kubisz, Ivan Löbl, Otto Merkl, V. Book Description
A catalogue of Lithuanian beetles (Insecta, Coleoptera)? is the first most comprehensive publication on Lithuanian beetle fauna. This volume provides a general overview of the main features of Lithuanian territory, the origins and formation of the beetle fauna and their conservation measures, the faunistic investigations in Lithuania to date revealing the most important stages of the research process. Basing on the published and interactive sources since 1830 the full lists of recorded and expected for Lithuania beetle species as well as enlarged list of references have been compiled in the catalogue. After revision of public beetle collections in Lithuania, the authors propose to remove 43 species from the beetle species list of the country on the grounds they have been wrongly identified or published by mistake. The information published in the monograph will serve to further research Lithuanian beetles.

Book Description
Homosexuality is an evolutionary paradox in search for a resolution, not a medical condition in search for a cure. Homosexual behavior is common among social animals, and mainly expressed within the context of a bisexual sexual orientation. Exclusive homosexuality is less common, but not unique to humans. Poiani and Dixson invite the reader to embark on a journey through the evolutionary, biological, psychological and sociological aspects of homosexuality, seeking an understanding of both the proximate and evolutionary causes of homosexual behavior and orientation in humans, other mammals and birds. The authors also provide a synthesis of what we know about homosexuality into a biosocial model that links recent advances in reproductive skew theory and various selection mechanisms to produce a comprehensive framework that will be useful for anyone teaching or planning future research in this field.
