Book Description
Chilly peppers are the important food material in various country. Peppers belong to the family Solanace, Genus Capsicum represents a diverse plant group which contains approximately 30 species, 5 of which C. Baccatum, C. annuum, C. chinense, C. frutescens and C. pubescens are domesticated and cultivated in different parts of the world. C. annuum is one of the most common cultivated crop worldwide. Chillies are excellent source of vitamin A,B,C and E with minerals like molybdenum, manganese, foliate, potassium, thiamine and copper .The world area and production of chilli is around 1.5 million ha and 7 million tonnes respectively Different varieties of chilli are found in Kerala. They are identified on the basis of their Morphology characteristic such as flower colour, fruit shape, fruit surface, number of flower per axil, leaf length, leaf colour, plant height etc. Antilarvicidal properties vary among the various morphological varieties of chilli peppers. There are 9 varieties of chilly are collected in Kerala. There are 5 varieties of chilly are used in experiment such as white round chilly, green round chilly, red lantern chilly, green chilly and banana chilly. In this five chilly varieties are used for the determination of antilarvacidal activity. Different organisms are used in antilarvicidal properties such as snail, fish and larvae. In this experiment higher resistant in fish, larvae and lower resistant power in snail.

Book Description
Peppers and eggplants are two leading vegetable crops produced and consumed worldwide. To facilitate the breeding for agronomical traits such as disease resistance and quality, diverse molecular genetic studies have been carried out. Recent achievements on pepper genome sequencing and trait-linked marker development have enabled the cloning of genes involved in useful traits. This book explores the agronomical and evolutionary characteristics of peppers and eggplants and the results of molecular genetic studies. Topics include molecular linkage maps and candidate gene approaches in capsicum and the structure of the pepper genome.

Book Description
Although thought of as a minor crop, peppers are a major world commodity due to their great versatility. They are used not only as vegetables in their own right but also as flavourings in food products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Aimed at advanced students and growers, this second edition expands upon topics covered in the first, such as the plant's history, genetics, production, diseases and pests, and brings the text up to date with current research and understanding of this genus. New material includes an expansion of marker-assisted breeding to cover the different types of markers available, new directions, and trends in the industry, the loss of germplasm and access to it, and the long term preservation of Capsicum resources worldwide. It is suitable for horticultural researchers, extension workers, academics, breeders, growers, and students.

Book Description
Analysis of genetic diversity is useful in selecting diverse parental combinations, reliable classification of accessions, for exact identification of variety, for conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources. In the present work genetic diversity in 23 chilli genotypes was analyzed by RAPD markers generated by 13 random primers out of which 9 were polymorphic. The amplification profile of these 9 primers consisted of 63 fragments of size ranging from 391 bp to 2754 bp of which 35 were monomorphic and 28 were polymorphic with 44.4 % polymorphism. The number of bands generated by each primer varied from 5 (OPB-10) to 9 (OPB-01 and OPB-15) with an average of 7 fragments per primer. The percentage of polymorphic bands with different primers ranged from 14.29 to 66.67 %. The similarity coefficients detected by RAPD ranged from 0.42 to 0.97 which revealed existence of limited genetic variation among chili genotypes. The consensus tree constructed showed three major clusters. First cluster comprise of 13 genotypes, second cluster of 7 genotypes and third cluster of 3 genotypes. The RAPD technology proved useful in describing genetic diversity among chilli genotypes
