Development of Transmit-Receive Module for 430 Mhz Radar Wind Profiler
Author: Shaik Imran Ahamed
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783659118814
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 108
Book Description
This book covers step by step approach for development of Transmit-Receive Module for 430 MHz RADAR Wind Profiler. RADAR is the acronym for RAdio Detection And Ranging. Radar in addition to the detection and characterization of hard targets to probe the soft or distributed targets such as the earth s atmosphere. The atmospheric radars of interest to the current study are known as clear air radars and they operate typically in the VHF (30-300 MHZ) and UHF (300MHZ-3GHZ) bands. The turbulent fluctuations in the refractive index of the atmosphere serve as a target for these radars. Indian MST Radar is operating at 53MHZ (VHF) frequency and Low Atmospheric Wind profiling radar is operating at 1.28GHZ (UHF) frequency to study the characteristics of high quality wind estimates in the presence of clutter. The main aim of this book is to develop Transmit-Receive module working at 430MHZ frequency. Commercially available packaged RF MOSFET Amplifier module RA45H4047M is used in this project. The RA45H4047M is a 45 Watt RF MOSFET Amplifier module for 12.5 volt that operates in 400-470 MHZ range. We present a detailed description of the development of the TR Module.

Radar for Meteorological and Atmospheric Observations
Author: Shoichiro Fukao
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 4431543341
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 561
Book Description
Epoch-making progress in meteorology and atmospheric science has always been hastened by the development of advanced observational technologies, in particular, radar technology. This technology depends on a wide range of sciences involving diverse disciplines, from electrical engineering and electronics to computer sciences and atmospheric physics. Meteorological radar and atmospheric radar each has a different history and has been developed independently. Particular radar activities have been conducted within their own communities. Although the technology of these radars draws upon many common fields, until now the interrelatedness and interdisciplinary nature of the research fields have not been consistently discussed in one volume containing fundamental theories, observational methods, and results. This book is by two authors who, with long careers in the two fields, one in academia and the other in industry, are ideal partners for writing on the comprehensive science and technology of radars for meteorological and atmospheric observations.

Strategic Guidance for the National Science Foundation's Support of the Atmospheric Sciences
Author: National Research Council
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309103495
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 217
Book Description
The National Science Foundation's Division of Atmospheric Sciences (ATM) supports research to develop new understanding of Earth's atmosphere and how the Sun impacts it. Strategic Guidance for the National Science Foundation's Support of the Atmospheric Sciences provides guidance to ATM on its strategy for achieving its goals in the atmospheric sciences, including cutting-edge research, education and workforce development, service to society, computational and observational objectives, and data management. The report reviews how the atmospheric sciences have evolved over the past several decades and analyzes the strengths and limitations of the various modes of support employed by ATM. It concludes that ATM is operating in an environment that is ever more cross-disciplinary, interagency, and international, making a more strategic approach necessary to manage activities in a way that actively engages the atmospheric sciences community. At the same time, ATM should preserve opportunities for basic research, especially projects that are high risk, potentially transformative, or unlikely to be supported by other government agencies. Finally, ATM needs to be more proactive in attracting highly talented students to the atmospheric sciences as an investment in the ability to make future breakthroughs.
