Notre thèse analyse les contraintes financières subies par les petites et moyennes entreprises. La première partie étudie la structure financière à partir d'un échantillon de 2551 firmes suivies entre 1994 et 2001. Le seuil de 20 salariés apparaît comme stratégique dans l'étude des comportements financiers. Nos recherches concernent ensuite les relations nouées avec les stakeholders financiers (banques, fournisseurs et clients) dans le cadre de la théorie du gouvernement d'entreprise. La seconde partie analyse la relation de long terme banque-entreprise en se basant sur une enquête menée auprès de 244 PME en 2001. Les effets de cette relation dépendent du niveau de risque matérialisé par le degré d'engagement de la banque. La troisième partie examine les relations de crédit inter-entreprises à partir d'une enquête sur 513 PME en 2002. Nous soulignons l'avantage informationnel des fournisseurs qui se substituent aux banques pour assurer le financement des entreprises opaques.
