Haufig kommt es vor, dass durch Schuchternheit sowie Unsicherheiten und Angste die Kommunikation oft verhindert ist. Andere verschiedene Faktoren konnen die mundliche Kommunikation ebenfalls hemmen. Diese konnen zum Beispiel Motivations- oder Konzentrationsprobleme sowie auch das fehlende Sprachwissen und -konnen der Fremdsprachenlerner sein. Storch beispielsweise betont, dass den Lernenden [...] oft die sprachlichen Mittel [fehlen], um ihre Gedanken in der Fremdsprache einigermassen angemessen ausdrucken zu konnen." (Storch 2011: 217) Fruher glaubte man, dass Lerner, die die Grammatik und den Wortschatz einer Fremdsprache beherrschten, in der Lage sein wurden, diese Sprachelemente zu kombinieren, dass sie an einer Konversation teilnehmen konnten. Heute wissen wir, dass diese Annahme falsch war." (Henrici/Riemer 1994: 63) Denn der Lernende muss hauptsachlich in der Lage sein, seine Wunsche und Absichten verbal ausdrucken zu konnen. Die Sprechfertigkeit wird zwar im Fremdsprachenunterricht gefordert, jedoch ist dabei wichtig, dass dies durch authentische Wege vermittelt wird. Der Lernende muss das Gelernte im Alltag nutzen konnen und ebenfalls frei sprechen konnen. Hierbei sind Aufgabenstellungen erforderlich, die das selbstandige Lernen in den Vordergrund stellen, sich inhaltlich an den Lebenswelten der Lerner orientieren und sie damit in die Lage versetzen, im Unterricht in moglichst authentischen Situationen zu interagieren (URL: Goethe-Institut; Grassmann; Kaufmann 2008: 13f.).
