De ce fait, nous relatons, dans ce travail, l'exemple de trois sujets atteints de ce double diagnostic ainsi que le système de soin, de proximité, nécessaire à la prise en charge de ce type de patient (entre autres). En effet, l'organisation du soin en plus des traitements médicamenteux (de substitution ou antipsychotique) permet d'ancrer le patient souffrant de cooccurrence au système de santé. Ce trouble psychiatrique, en particulier, qui est plus associé à une toxicomanie, pourrait faire penser que le soin est impossible par défaut d'adhésion du sujet. Mais nous montrerons qu'en fait, malgré les préjugés, la complexité des prises en charge des deux pathologies ne s'additionne pas et que, au contraire, le traitement de l'une permet celui de l'autre.

Until the recent past, most of the research done on schizophrenia did not include children or adolescents who suffer from the disorder. During adolescence, important changes take place in brain development. These changes make adolescence a period of both vulnerability and opportunity. Emergence of psychosis and schizophrenia may be associated with abnormal brain development during adolescence. This book discusses the findings of studies that focus on abnormal brain development during the premorbid period of psychosis and schizophrenia. Cognitive neuroscience constructs of visuospatial memory and working memory are associated with adult- and adolescent-onset schizophrenia.
