Book Description
Market: Those interested in fluid dynamics and the related fields of oceanography, meteorology, and mechanical, aerospace, chemical, and civil engineering. This monograph is a report of a meeting sponsored by the National Science Foundation to determine research trends and consequent funding/research needs in fluid dynamics. The book covers major industries, technologies, and environmental issues affected by fluid mechanics, as well as the direction future research in the field should take. The areas covered not only fill important gaps in the literature, they are crucial to the resolution of serious global and regional environmental problems. In addition, the book emphasizes the impact of the research areas on commercial questions and on issues affecting public policy.

Book Description
The interaction of a fluid with a solid body is a widespread phenomenon in nature, occurring at different scales and different applied disciplines. Interestingly enough, even though the mathematical theory of the motion of bodies in a liquid is one of the oldest and most classical problems in fluid mechanics, mathematicians have, only very recently, become interested in a systematic study of the basic problems related to fluid-structure interaction, from both analytical and numerical viewpoints. Fundamental Trends in Fluid-Structure Interaction is a unique collection of important papers written by world-renowned experts aimed at furnishing the highest level of development in several significant areas of fluid-structure interactions. The contributions cover several aspects of this discipline, from mathematical analysis, numerical simulation and modeling viewpoints, including motion of rigid and elastic bodies in a viscous liquid, particulate flow and hemodynamic.

Book Description
The space discussed in this book is realistic physical space, is defined as “extensive property of matter and its motion”. This is the space we are familiar with in our daily life. Its basic property is it can be measured and validated. In physical theory, there are “phase space” in statistical physics, “state vector space” in quantum mechanics, “complex number space”, “function space” in mathematics, and some noosphere in social scientific field. In Buddhism books, there are hells with eighteen layers, heaven with ninety-nine layers. These are all abstract spaces. We will not discuss these kinds of spaces. With the knowledge of space from our daily lives, we introduced a strict scientific definition of space and illustrated that space is a property of matter. In this book, the relationship of uniformity of space, centrosymmetry, law of momentum conservation and law of angular momentum conservation are introduced. Also we discussed the relation of space and motion, introduced special relativity and demonstrated that the space properties of a matter will change dramatically as it is moving with a speed close to the light velocity. We introduced the property of the smallest space we can observe at present and quantum mechanics which describes the micro world. Also we introduced the fact that gravitation will bend space of matter and general relativity which described this fact. We introduced cosmology which described the big space; about the related observed facts, related “standard model” and its difficulties; the related works of the author and the supports from observed facts. At last, this book introduced some thoughts on some questions from the author. Some of them will be solved with development of science later.

Book Description
This volume collects the contributions of a Conference held in June 2005 at the laboratoire Paul Painleve (UMR CNRS 8524) in Lille, France. The meeting was intended to review hot topics and future trends in fluid dynamics, with the objective to foster exchanges of various viewpoints (e.g. theoretical, and numerical) on the addressed questions. It comprises a collection of research articles on recent advances in the analysis and simulation of fluid dynamics.
