Book Description
"Radioactive Xenon was produced by proton bombardment of LiI at selected proton energies up to 85 Mev in the 84" synchrocyclotron at McGill. Sources were prepared by imbedding the Xenon in the cooled aluminum cathode of a direct current discharge tube. Xenon of mass numbers 125, 123, 122, 121 has been studied. In addition the positron spectrum of I122 and electron conversion lines arising from the decay of I123 and I121 have been measured." --

Book Description
The most important aspect of the wind-up of UNISOR-based research is completion of student theses. Analysis is proceeding on extensive studies in the neutron-deficient rare earth isotopes with N 82 and the neutron-deficient region below Z = 82. These studies address the onset of deformation in the N

Book Description
Neutron-rich rare-earth nuclei were produced in multinucleon transfer reactions of 17°Er and 176Yb projectiles on {sup nat}W targets at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory SuperHILAC and their radioactive decays properties studied at the on-line mass separation facility OASIS. Two unknown isotopes, 169Dy (t 12 = 39 {plus minus} 8 s) and 174Er(t12 = 3.3 {plus minus} 0.2 m) were discovered and their decay characteristics determined. The decay schemes for two previously identified isotopes, 168Dy (t12 = 8.8 {plus minus} 0.3 m) and 171Ho (t12 = 55 {plus minus} 3 s), were characterized. Evidence for a new isomer of 3.0 m 168Ho{sup g}, 168Ho{sup m} (t12 = 132 {plus minus} 4 s) which decays by isomeric transition (IT) is presented. Beta particle endpoint energies were determined for the decay of 168Ho{sup g}, 169Dy, 171Ho, and 174Er, the resulting Q[beta]-values are: 2.93 {plus minus} 0.03, 3.2 {plus minus} 0.3, 3.2 {plus minus} 0.6, and 1.8 {plus minus} 0.2 MeV, respectively. These values were compared with values calculated using recent atomic mass formulae. Comparisons of various target/ion source geometries used in the OASIS mass separator facility for these multinucleon transfer reactions were performed. 73 refs., 40 figs., 11 tabs.
