WHO Guidelines for Indoor Air Quality
Author:
Publisher: World Health Organization
ISBN:
Category : House & Home
Languages : en
Pages : 488
Book Description
This book presents WHO guidelines for the protection of public health from risks due to a number of chemicals commonly present in indoor air. The substances considered in this review, i.e. benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, naphthalene, nitrogen dioxide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (especially benzo[a]pyrene), radon, trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene, have indoor sources, are known in respect of their hazardousness to health and are often found indoors in concentrations of health concern. The guidelines are targeted at public health professionals involved in preventing health risks of environmental exposures, as well as specialists and authorities involved in the design and use of buildings, indoor materials and products. They provide a scientific basis for legally enforceable standards.

RATE OF ABSORPTION OF OXIDES OF NITROGEN BY NITRIC ACID AT A PRESSURE OF 1.2 Kg/sq. Cm
Author: V. I. Konvisar
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 16
Book Description
Results are presented of the effect of various physicochemical and hydrodynamic factors on the process rate of absorption of nitrogen oxides by nitric acid solutions in a foam apparatus. With an increase in the initial nitrosity of the gas, the degree of conversion of nitrogen oxides into HNO3 increases. The degree of conversion of nitrogen oxides into HNO3 is reduced with an increase in nitric acid concentration, while efficiency remains practically constant right up to 45 percent nitric acid with the same concentration of nitrogen oxides. In the case of counterflow the efficiency increases with a growth in the concentration of nitrogen oxides and nitric acid. With a certain motivating force of the absorption process, it is necessary to take into account the equilibrium pressure of the nitrogen oxides over the liquid phase. With an increase in temperature from 20 to 50 degrees C, the coefficient of the degree of achievement of equilibrium between the nitrogen oxides and the acid, or efficiency, is reduced by 0.2 percent per 1 degree C. An increase in temperature within the limits 20-50 degrees C renders in a negative influence on the absorption process. (Author).
