Spectroscopic and Electrochemical Studies of Transition-Metal Tetrasulfonated Phthalocyanines. VI. The Adsorption of Iron Tetrasulfonated Phthalocyanine on Single Crystal Silver Electrodes
Author: R. Adzic
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 20
Book Description
Adsorbed layers of iron tetrasulfonated phthalocyanine have been examined using cyclic voltammetry on the silver single crystal low index surface: (100), (110), and (111). The peak potentials and charge under the voltammetry peaks show some dependence on the crystal planes. The effects of the underpotential deposition of lead on the adsorbed macrocycle have also been examined on the silver single crystal electrode. The lead can be underpotential deposited on the silver directly through a pre-adsorbed macrocycle layer without desorbing the macrocycle. The data are explained in terms of a model for the adsorbed macrocycle which has the plane of the ligand perpendicular to the electrode surface.

Spectroscopic and Electrochemical Studies of the Transition Metal Tetrasulfonated Phthalocyanines. Part 5. Voltammetric Studies of Adsorbed Tetrasulfonated Phthalocyanines (MTsPc) in Aqueous Solutions
Author: S. Zecevic
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 23
Book Description
Cyclic voltammetric measurements of adsorbed Fe- and Co-tetrasulfonated phthalocyanine (TsPc) and Co-phthalocyanine (Pc) have been carried out on ordinary pyrolytic graphite and silver electrodes at different solution pH ranging from 1 to 13. Many voltammetry peaks were found to be pH dependent with a slope of -59 mV/unit pH. In some instances this dependence was observed in alkaline or acid solutions only. Explanations for the various voltammetry peaks and their pH dependence are discussed. The influence of dioxygen and its reduction have also been examined. Keywords: Macrocycles, Tetrasulfonated phalocyanines, Adsorption layers, Electrochemical properties, Voltammetry.

Phthalocyanines and Some Current Applications
Author: Yusuf Yilmaz
Publisher: BoD – Books on Demand
ISBN: 9535132555
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 255
Book Description
Since their initial accidental synthesis and characterization in Scotland in the late 1920s, there has been a strong research focus on the use of phthalocyanines (Pcs) as dyes and pigments. In recent years, active research fields have included their use in electrophotography, photovoltaic and solar cells, molecular electronics, Langmuir-Blodgett films, photosensitizers, electrochromic display devices, gas sensors, liquid crystals, low-dimensional conductors, and optical disks. Phthalocyanines possess interesting biological, electronic, optical, catalytic, and structural properties. The main disadvantage is their insolubility in common solvents due to strong intermolecular - interactions. The solubility of phthalocyanines can be increased by various methods such as the formation of anionic and cationic species and both axial and peripheral substitution. Substitution at the nonperipheral and peripheral positions of the benzo moieties usually enhances their solubility in organic solvents. The most important advantage of phthalocyanines compared to porphyrins is that their Q bands lie at longer wavelengths and are considerably more intense. In this book, you will find synthesis and some applications of various phthalocyanine derivatives.

The Porphyrin Handbook
Author: Karl Kadish
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0080923909
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 325
Book Description
The Porphyrin Handbook, Volume 16: Phthalocyanines: Spectroscopic and Electrochemical Characterization provides information pertinent to every aspect of the chemistry, synthesis, spectroscopy, and structure of phthalocyanines. This book examines the biology and medical implications of porphyrin systems. Organized into five chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the photophysical properties of phthalocyanines that are important in relation to photosensitizers in photodynamic therapy, photoconductor, solar cells, and artificial photosynthesis. This text then describe how the data obtained from magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy has provided the critical information required to describe the excited and ground state degeneracies of main group metallophthalocyanines complexes. Other chapters consider the electrocatalysis by electrodes modified with phthalocyanine sensors and complexes. This book discusses as well the properties of phthalocyanines and of their complexes. The final chapter deals with the experiments with organic pigment thin films. This book is a valuable resource for research scientists, engineers, and clinicians.

Optical Spectra of Phthalocyanines and Related Compounds
Author: Hiroaki Isago
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 4431551026
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 141
Book Description
This book displays how optical (absorption, emission, and magnetic circular dichroism) spectra of phthalocyanines and related macrocyclic dyes can be varied from their prototypical ones depending on conditions. As these compounds can be involved in colorful chemistry (which might be driven by impurities in solvents), their spectra behave like the sea-god Proteus in their mutability. Therefore, those who have been engaged with phthalocyanines for the first time, including even educated professional researchers and engineers, may have been embarrassed by the deceptive behavior of their compounds and could have, in the worst cases, given up their projects. This book is aimed not merely at reviewing the optical spectra, but also at helping such people, particularly beginners, to figure them out by showing some examples of their prototypical spectra and their variations in several situations. For the purpose of better understanding, the book also provides an introduction to their theoretical backgrounds as graphically as possible and without mathematicization for readers who are weak in mathematics.
