This socio-economic assessment assumes that the management objectives & direction outlined in the Recovery Plan can & will be applied & enforced in the Plan area, and assesses the impacts of the Plan on the following sectors: mining, energy (coal & hydro power), forestry, transportation, agriculture, recreation & tourism, First Nations, and settlements. The current status of each sector is reviewed and impacts of three main types of Plan activities are discussed: habitat preservation & enhancement, population augmentation, and public education.

This report begins with an outline of the public consultation process that was carried out regarding the plan.
