Book Description
The demand for sophisticated frequency converters in the industry has recently increased. Hence, the tools for simulation and performance verification of such converters or control systems which embedded them are also needed to save both money and time. The book describes the implementation of fully operating simulink model of the high voltage frequency converter PowerFlex7000. The model is thoroughly tested in several speed and torque regulations with induction (asynchronous) machines of various power and load characteristics. The comparison between scalar frequency converters is also made. The designed model focuses on the overall behavior; therefore; it offers a unique and flexible tool for interfacing the model of the converter with mechanical, electrical or any other model and hence allowing simulation of complex control systems. The book could help anyone who deals with design, simulation and performance verification of control systems where either PowerFlex7000 or any other vector control based frequency converter is used.

Book Description
Power electronic converters can be broadly classified as AC to DC, DC to AC, DC to DC and AC to AC converters. AC to AC converters can be further classified as AC Controllers or AC regulators, Cycloconverters and Matrix converters. AC controllers and cycloconverters are fabricated using Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCR) whereas matrix converters are built using semiconductor bidirectional switches. This text book provides a summary of AC to AC Converter modelling excluding AC controllers. The software Simulink® by Mathworks Inc., USA is used to develop the models of AC to AC Converters presented in this text book. The term model in this text book refers to SIMULINK model. This text book is mostly suitable for researchers and practising professional engineers in the industry working in the area of AC to AC converters. Features Provides a summary of AC to AC Converter modelling excluding AC controllers Includes models for three phase AC to three phase AC matrix converters using direct and indirect space vector modulation algorithm Presents new applications such as single and dual programmable AC to DC rectifier with derivations for output voltage Displays Hardware-in-the Loop simulation of a three phase AC to single phase AC matrix converter Provides models for three phase multilevel matrix converters, Z-source Direct and Quasi Z-source Indirect matrix converters; a model for speed control and brake by plugging of three phase induction motor and separately excited DC motors using matrix converter; a model for a new single phase and three phase sine wave direct AC to AC Converter without a DC link using three winding transformers and that for a square wave AC to square wave AC converter using a DC link; models for variable frequency, variable voltage AC to AC power supply; models for Solid State Transformers using Dual Active Bridge topology and a new direct AC to AC Converter topology; and models for cycloconverters and indirect matrix converters

Book Description
Around 80% of electrical consumption in an industrialised society is used by machinery and electrical drives. Therefore, it is key to have reliable grids that feed these electrical assets. Consequently, it is necessary to carry out pre-commissioning tests of their insulation systems and, in some cases, to implement an online condition monitoring and trending analysis of key variables, such as partial discharges and temperature, among others. Because the tests carried out for analysing the dielectric behaviour of insulation systems are commonly standardised, it is of interest to have tools that simulate the real behaviour of those and their weaknesses to prevent electrical breakdowns. The aim of this book is to provide the reader with models for electrical insulation systems diagnosis.

Book Description
Harmonic Modeling of Voltage Source Converters using Basic Numerical Methods One of the first books to bridge the gap between frequency domain and time-domain methods of steady-state modeling of power electronic converters Harmonic Modeling of Voltage Source Converters using Basic Numerical Methods presents detailed coverage of steady-state modeling of power electronic devices (PEDs). This authoritative resource describes both large-signal and small-signal modeling of power converters and how some of the simple and commonly used numerical methods can be applied for harmonic analysis and modeling of power converter systems. The book covers a variety of power converters including DC-DC converters, diode bridge rectifiers (AC-DC), and voltage source converters (DC-AC). The authors provide in-depth guidance on modeling and simulating power converter systems. Detailed chapters contain relevant theory, practical examples, clear illustrations, sample Python and MATLAB codes, and validation enabling readers to build their own harmonic models for various PEDs and integrate them with existing power flow programs such as OpenDss.
