Book Description
This volumed compilation of the writings of George Washington brings together important speeches, letters, and other official correspondence from the professional life of the Commander-in-Chief. Special attention is paid to documents relating to his military business and political career, but also with personal correspondence to add a more holistic examination into Washington. The editor provides his own summary of Washington's life in the first volume, before the autobiographical documents begin.

Book Description
Excerpt from George Washington and Other American Addresses The following Addresses were given in February and March, 1901, at various Societies and Universi ties of the United States. The occasion of my Visit was an invitation with which I was honoured by the Union League Club of Chicago to deliver the public Address in the Auditorium of that city, on the annual commemoration of the birthday of George Washing ton. My thanks are due to the American Ambas sador in London, who transmitted to me from his friends there this and similar invitations from various Universities, and who adds to his kindness by per mitting me to inscribe his name on this volume. The first two addresses were in substance published in the annual Report of the celebration by the Union League Club of Chicago. The Lecture on the Writ ings of King Alfred was published separately in May last. The other Addresses have not previously been printed. Book Description
The State of the Union is the annual address presented by the President of the United States to the United States Congress. The address not only reports on the condition of the nation but also allows presidents to outline their legislative agenda (for which they need the cooperation of Congress) and their national priorities. In this edition the State of Union Addresses by George Washington are presented in full for the years 1790-1796.George Washington (February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, serving as the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He also presided over the Convention that drafted the Constitution, which replaced the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution established the position of President of the Republic, which title Washington was the first to hold.
