Book Description
Index to Reviews, Symposia Volumes and Monographs in Organic Chemistry For the Period 1961-1962 aims to help research workers, teachers, and students to locate quickly those current reviews in which they may be interested. The format used in the 1940-1960 Index has been retained. While the 1961-1962 issue stands on its own, it will be most useful in conjunction with the 1940-1960 volume. Complete author and subject indexes are included, with adequate cross-indexing in the latter. While the majority of articles listed is directly on organic chemistry, there are many which border on biochemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, bacteriology, technological developments, etc. The volume is organized into three parts. Part I contains reviews in journals and periodic publications. Part II presents reviews in symposia, collective volumes, and non-periodical publications. Part III lists monographs on organic chemistry, 1961-1962. Included this volume are a number of articles which deal specifically with hazards in the use of various chemicals, such as perchlorates, peroxides, solvents, insecticides, etc. A selection of articles from the Journal of Chemical Education is provided as well as articles in the International Edition of Angewandte Chemie, published in English.

Book Description
The aim of each volume of this series Guides to Information Sources is to reduce the time which needs to be spent on patient searching and to recommend the best starting point and sources most likely to yield the desired information. The criteria for selection provide a way into a subject to those new to the field and assists in identifying major new or possibly unexplored sources to those who already have some acquaintance with it. The series attempts to achieve evaluation through a careful selection of sources and through the comments provided on those sources.

Book Description
Focusing on preparation and applications in synthesis and catalysis, this book finally closes a gap in the literature by summarizing this hot topic for the first time. As such, it gathers in one volume the key features of metal vinylidene and allenylidene complexes as well as reactive species and covers applications in metathesis, polymerization, molecular materials, carbon rich compounds and fine chemical production. The emphasis here is on the selective transformations of alkynes and enynes plus simple and complex molecules containing a triple C-C bond. The result is a must-have ready reference for organic, catalytic, complex, theoretical and polymer chemists, as well as those working with/on organometallics.

Book Description
The book, Nanorods and Nanocomposites aims to provide the reader with an overview of the recent advances made on the synthesis of nanorods and nanocomposites and their emerging applications for a better lifestyle. The nanorods are a surprising gift to materials science from the research field of nanoscale materials. Nanorods promise to serve as a building block of the next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices. Nanocomposite materials are multiphase solid materials that have one organic or inorganic nanoarchitectured compound with various nanostructures, such as nanoparticles, nanowires, nanorods, and nano-films, etc., or with multiphase solid materials (metals, oxides, polymers, and carbon). Due to the progressive physical, chemical, electrical, thermal, optical, electrochemical, and catalytic properties of nanocomposites, they exhibit multi-functional characteristics in a variety of engineering applications such as piezoelectrics, thermoresistors, sensors, energy-related technologies, water purification catalysts, electro-photonics, and so on. Despite the wide variety of applications due to their unique nanostructures, the fabrication of nanocomposites and the realization of their applications in different fields remains a challenging task. The focus of this book is to provide a platform for presentation of the latest knowledge and recent progress in synthesis, functionalization, and applications of nanocomposite materials. It is expected that this book presents the most attractive and versatile technological developments in the field of nanorods and nanocomposite materials and their applications that will provide a better understanding of the currently ongoing research in related fields.

Book Description
Acetylene systems present a new route to cyclic compounds as an alternative to more traditional methods employed in classical organic chemistry. The synthesis of cyclic structures based on acetylene systems has important applications in the formation of nanostructures, naturally occurring compounds and chemosensory materials for the design of nonlinear optics, electronic and photonic devices. Alkynes in Cycloadditions presents a modern review of regioselective synthesis of aromatic and non-aromatic carbocyclic and heterocyclic ring systems based primarily on [2+2+2] and [4+2] cycloadditions, and other reactions of acetylenic units including enediynes and enyne-allenes. Topics covered include: New strategies for the formation of aromatic and polynuclear hydrocarbons based on (Z)-hex-3-en-1,5-diyne and (Z)-hepta-1,2,4-triene-6-yne blocks. One-step synthesis of benzene derivatives, β-substituted naphthalenes and acenes by the cycloaromatization of enediynes and enyne-allenes by Bergman, Myers-Saito and Shmittel. Mechanisms of cycloaromatization resulting in the formation of fulvene and indene systems. Heterocyclization involving enyne-carbodiimides. New achievements in classical cycloaddition reactions such as the Diels-Alder condensation with acetylenic dienophiles and [2+2] cycloadditions with acetylene components Alkynes in Cycloadditions presents a comprehensive summary of the literature on methods for the synthesis of ring systems from acetylenes for academic researchers working in the fields of organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, catalysis, materials science, nanomaterials and biochemistry.
