Book Description
Rose Nawalker was born into a mixed, Brahman- Buddhist family in Calcutta. As a child, she asked Jesus to be her savior, for which she was rejected by her family. Eventually, however, her parents followed her into Christ's arms. Rose, with Dr. Bob Pierce, founded World Vision in India. Later, she and her husband, Wai Sin Hu, helped establish Samaritan's Purse in Calcutta. It was often difficult to work with international Christian agencies and so, in order to remain true to their calling, they gave up the financial security found through these associations and started their own local charity, Samaritan Helps. Their passion has been to bring both education and salvation to the children of the poorest of the poor in India. Through their day care centers thousands of destitute, hopeless children have been raised out of financial and spiritual poverty. Many are now serving their communities in health, education, government, and many other professional fields Rose and Wai tell their own story in this book. Dr. Paul Chiles earned degrees in chemistry, medicine, and public health at the University of Washington. After working in Papua New Guinea for two years, Paul and his wife, Joyce, moved to San Juan Island in northern Puget Sound. Over the next seventeen years, while practicing medicine and raising two children, they frequently volunteered in mission hospitals around the world. Seventeen years ago they sold the practice and moved to a ranch in south, central Washington State so that they could work more frequently in disaster interventions. Paul and Joyce are often found on opposite sides of the world as they respond to separate disasters for Samaritan's Purse. Paul also works part time for the U.S. Government Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance. He has now served in more than thirty different countries.

In 14 chapters, ‘Ornamental Plants for Gardening’ documents the myriad variation available in diverse categories of ornamentals plants (annuals; roses; chrysanthemums; tuberose; bulbous plants; shrubs & climbers; cactus & succulents; hedges, edges, topiary & bonsai; and turf grass) for enhancing the attractiveness of both small and large gardens. Theoretical and practical guidance is provided about varieties; soil bed preparation; cultural practices; irrigation; fertilization; disease, pest and weed control; preservation of seeds & other forms of propagation units. Each chapter has been authored by expert/s in the relevant area and bears the seal of authenticity.
