Book Description
This book has been written to be used with the two quiz books that have already been published, under the titles Robert Burns 100 Questions Vol one and two. Whilst attending Burns suppers it has become abundantly clear that most participant's, guests, and performers would like to know more about Robert Burns and his poetry. It is for this reason I have decided to publish a few more books under the "A Night IN With A Dram And Friends" title to aid with answering the questions in the two previous books mentioned. The new books published will be a more detailed study on the life of Burns.

The new books published will be a more detailed study on the life of Burns. These two quiz books invite you and your friends to test their knowledge of Scotland's national bard Robert Burns. They are designed to be books which are suitable for those willing to learn some more information about the bard. The questions in the books cover all aspects of his life from birth to death and considers his family background. My background in relation to Burns is as a reciter and singer. I remember doing my first Burns supper at the Monklands hospital just shortly after it opened in the early 1980. I have always had an interest in Burns and his poetry. I collect and read books that relate to Burns and have done so for many years now. The questions and answers in the books, have been sourced from both books and the internet. I have spent many painstaking hours researching to check all the answers are correct and in doing so have educated myself further on other aspects of his life. I am a past president of Airdrie Burns Club. The book is not only aimed at those who are new to Burns but also other reciters, speakers and singers like myself. The answers for every question in both these books can be found in the following chapters.

When Scotland Was Jewish
Author: Elizabeth Caldwell Hirschman
Publisher: McFarland
ISBN: 0786455225
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 265
Book Description
The popular image of Scotland is dominated by widely recognized elements of Celtic culture. But a significant non-Celtic influence on Scotland's history has been largely ignored for centuries? This book argues that much of Scotland's history and culture from 1100 forward is Jewish. The authors provide evidence that many of the national heroes, villains, rulers, nobles, traders, merchants, bishops, guild members, burgesses, and ministers of Scotland were of Jewish descent, their ancestors originating in France and Spain. Much of the traditional historical account of Scotland, it is proposed, rests on fundamental interpretive errors, perpetuated in order to affirm Scotland's identity as a Celtic, Christian society. A more accurate and profound understanding of Scottish history has thus been buried. The authors' wide-ranging research includes examination of census records, archaeological artifacts, castle carvings, cemetery inscriptions, religious seals, coinage, burgess and guild member rolls, noble genealogies, family crests, portraiture, and geographic place names.
