Handbook of Reference Methods for Plant Analysis
Author: Yash Kalra
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 9781420049398
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 326
Book Description
The Handbook of Reference Methods for Plant Analysis is an outstanding resource of plant analysis procedures, outlined in easy-to-follow steps and laboratory-ready for implementation. Plant laboratory preparation methods such as dry ashing and acid and microwave digestion are discussed in detail. Extraction techniques for analysis of readily soluble elements (petiole analysis) and quick test kits for field testing are also presented. This handbook consolidates proven, time tested methods in one convenient source. Plant scientists in production agriculture, forestry, horticulture, environmental sciences, and other related disciplines will find the Handbook a standard laboratory reference. The Handbook was written for the Soil and Plant Analysis Council, Inc., of which the editor is a board member. The council aims to promote uniform soil test and plant analysis methods, use, interpretation, and terminology; and to stimulate research on the calibration and use of soil testing and plant analysis. This reference will help readers reach these important goals in their own research.

Longterm Effects of Treatments on Soil Physical Properties
Author: Ibrahim Mohammed
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783846512074
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 56
Book Description
Long term soil experiments are one of the array of scientific approaches used to increase the understanding of changes in soil properties and soil-environment interactions that help in soil management to meet the challenges of doubling food production from the soil. The Samaru Long-term trial, modelled after the classical Rothamsted trial in England, is the oldest Long Term soil trial in Africa. This study investigated the influence of long term application of Dung (D), Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) on soil morphological and physical parameters: soil texture, wilting point, field capacity, saturation, available water, saturated hydraulic conductivity, bulk density and depth. From the laboratory results of particle size analysis, SPAW: field and pond hydrology (USDA-ARS and WSU-BSysE) version 6.1.52 was used in determining other soil physical properties. SAS was used in analysis of variance and differences in means were separated using the Turkey's Studentized range (HSD) test.

Encyclopedia of Agrophysics
Author: Jan GliĆski
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9048135842
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1075
Book Description
This Encyclopedia of Agrophysics will provide up-to-date information on the physical properties and processes affecting the quality of the environment and plant production. It will be a "first-up" volume which will nicely complement the recently published Encyclopedia of Soil Science, (November 2007) which was published in the same series. In a single authoritative volume a collection of about 250 informative articles and ca 400 glossary terms covering all aspects of agrophysics will be presented. The authors will be renowned specialists in various aspects in agrophysics from a wide variety of countries. Agrophysics is important both for research and practical use not only in agriculture, but also in areas like environmental science, land reclamation, food processing etc. Agrophysics is a relatively new interdisciplinary field closely related to Agrochemistry, Agrobiology, Agroclimatology and Agroecology. Nowadays it has been fully accepted as an agricultural and environmental discipline. As such this Encyclopedia volume will be an indispensable working tool for scientists and practitioners from different disciplines, like agriculture, soil science, geosciences, environmental science, geography, and engineering.
