Book Description
This report provides the results of testing on reconnectable fittings for aircraft plumbing repair for a type III 4150 psi titanium hydraulic plumbing system. The primary work includes process development and qualification testing with a roller-swaged flareless sleeve and completion of evaluation of tube cutoff tooling. Secondary and temporary repair methods were investigated using the hand preset method for flareless bite-type sleeves. The tests conducted on the roller-swaged flareless sleeve were tensile, flexure, repeated assembly, pressure impulse, and burst. On the flareless bite-type sleeves, the same tests were conducted with the exception of the flexure tests. The roller-swaged sleeve and fitting standards are included. (Author).

Book Description
This report provides the results of qualification tests of in-place fusion-welded fittings for a Type III hydraulic system ( -65 F to 450 F). It describes welding equipment and inspection methods, which include the evaluation of an isotope camera. The fitting material was titanium alloy (Ti) 6Al-4V annealed and the tubing Ti-3Al-2.5V cold worked and stress relieved (CWSR). The tests conducted on the welded joints were tensile, pressure impulse, and burst pressure. The tensile and burst pressure tests were conducted at room temperature and the pressure impulse tests at -65 F and 450 F. Fitting standards for 4150-psi pressure lines and 2075-psi return lines are included. Detail procedures for welding and radiographic inspection are included or referred to. (Author).

Book Description
This report describes the design and testing of couplings fabricated from shape-memory brass (Betalloy) and used for the repair of helicopter battle-damaged hydraulic lines (rigid and flexible), control tubes, and drive shafts. Flameless heaters were investigated for fueled aircraft. Hydraulic rigid couplings generally exceeded the strength of the tubing. Flexible couplings were sensitive to installation. C-type couplings for nonsevered damaged tubing added to the strength significantly but were difficult to fabricate large enough to fit over the tubing without cutting the tube. (Author).

Book Description
This book describes efficient and safe repair operations for pipelines, and develops new methods for the detection and repair of volumetric surface defects in transmission pipelines. It also addresses the physics, mechanics, and applications of advanced materials used for composite repair of corroded pipelines. Presenting results obtained in the European Commission’s INNOPIPES FRAMEWORK 7 programme, it develops long-range ultrasonic and phased array technologies for pipeline diagnostics, and explores their interactions with discontinuities and directional properties of ultrasonic antenna array. The book subsequently shares the results of non-destructive testing for different types of materials applications and advanced composite repair systems, and characterizes the mechanical properties by means of fracture methods and non-destructive techniques. In turn, the book assesses the currently available technologies for reinforcement of pipelines, drawing on the experience gai ned by project partners, and evaluates the recovery of the carrying capacity of pipeline sections with local corrosion damage by means of analytical and numerical procedures. It develops an optimization method based on the planning of experiments and surface techniques for advanced composite repair systems, before validating the numerical models developed and experimentally gauging the effectiveness of composite repair with the help of full-scale hydraulic tests.

Book Description
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) shall be used in conjunction with AMS4946 to provide requirements for qualification testing and for qualified products listing (QPL) and qualified manufacturer listing (QML) for Ti-3Al-2.5V cold worked and stress relieved hydraulic system tubing. The basic tubing shall comply with the requirements of AMS4946. Define pressure requirements for S-N testing for Type I tubing and revise cycle requirement to reflect the new pressure values. Revise the quantity of tubes that are S-N tested at the specified pressure values. Delete flexure test requirement.
