Dans la présente étude, nous nous proposons de reprendre la mesure de la limite élastique de la solution solide du molybdène dans le fer [alpha] et d'étudier sa variation en fonction de la température et de la concentration ; nous comparerons les résultats expérimentaux aux résultats prévus par les différentes théories et nous verrons dans quelle mesure celles-ci sont susceptibles de rendre compte du durcissement proportionnel à la concentration à la température ordinaire et de l'adoucissement à basse température. Nous nous proposons également de déterminer la corrélation entre les variations de la limite élastique et les différents types de microstructure possibles, amas d'atomes de molybdène ou précipités, pour un alliage Fe-6% at. Mo recuit, soit à 550°C, soit à 700°C. Les résultats obtenus seront comparés avec les résultats partiels déjà publiés et nous tenterons une explication du comportement mécanique de ces alliages.

Ce travail présente une application d'une méthode de calcul type ab inition à des alliages métalliques. Il consiste à déterminer les tendances générales qui caractérisent leurs comportements ainsi que l'amélioration de leurs propriétés physiques (mécaniques, transports, ). Les calculs effectués dans ce travail ont clairement mis en évidence les effets des additions ternaires 3d (Ti, V, Cr) et 4d(Zr, Nb, Mo) pour les alliages Cu-Ag et leurs rôles sur les propriétés mécaniques et de transport. En parallèle, les effets des petits atomes (B, C, N, O) en substitution, des lacunes ainsi que la non-stœchiométrie ont été bien éclaircis dans le cadre des alliages FeAl. Les résultats obtenus ont également démontré la stabilité et le rôle des précipitations qui peuvent renforcer la matrice pure : structures des Laves binaires et ternaires du système Cr-Zr-Nb et leurs comportement à haute températures pour les alliages base Cu et structures Heusler Fe2AlTi et Fe2AlCr pour le FeAl. Les calculs ont été aussi élargis aux couches fines (multicouches) à base Cu/Ag et Cu/AgZr en vue de leur éventuel développement par les techniques de croissance récemment acquises par le laboratoire (notamment les techniques PVD et CVD). Cette étude a clairement démontré le potentiel des méthodes de calcul dans la conception de nouveaux matériaux en combinant les effets de température, de concentration, des défauts, etc. En connaissant les tendances et la corrélation entre les propriétés microscopiques et macroscopiques, le concepteur peut ainsi être guidé dans ses choix pour trouver les alliages correspondants aux propriétés requises sans avoir recours à des expériences coûteuses
