Book Description
The last Kindling Conference was organized by Dr. Juhn Wada and held at the Univer sity of British Columbia, Vancouver, B. C. , in 1989. In the intervening years, research on kin dling has proceeded at an explosive pace and significant advances have been made in our understanding of the molecular biological, anatomical, and physiological substrates of kin dling, as well as in our appreciation of the age-dependent effects and complex behavioral consequences of kindling, its sensitivity to drugs, and its relevance to the clinical epilepsies. In order to review these developments and to provide researchers with an opportunity to in teract face to face and discuss the issues that preoccupy us all, we organized the Fifth Interna tional Conference on Kindling, in Victoria, B. C. , in the summer of 1996. Most of the stalwarts in kindling research were invited, as were a number of investigators whose research on kindling has become prominent in the past few years. We continue to miss the late Graham Goddard, the discoverer of kindling, and were saddened by the recent death of Eric Lothman, a prolific researcher and clinician who would have been a prominent participant. We were deeply disturbed to learn of the death of Frank Morrell, one of the earliest kindlers and an eminent neurologist, who died several months after our conference.

Book Description
The Neuropsychology of Anxiety first appeared in 1982 as the first volume in the Oxford Psychology Series, and it quickly established itself as a classic work in the psychology and neuroscience literature. It presented an innovative, and at times controversial, theory of anxiety and the brain systems, especially the septo-hippocampal system, that subserve it. This completely updated and revised third edition provides a further updated theory of septo hippocampal function combined with an improved understanding of anxiety. The book includes a new chapter on prefrontal cortex integrating frontal and hippocampal views of anxiety, as well as an extensively modified chapter on personality providing a new basis for further developments of Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory. In addition, numerous figures have been fully updated and converted to colour to support the text. This book is essential for postgraduate students and researchers in experimental psychology and neuroscience, as well as for all clinical psychologists and psychiatrists.

Book Description
This is the first truly comprehensive survey of cognitive rehabilitation, spanning the spectrum from basic science to functional outcome. The international team of expert authors provide a critical review of theoretical and methodological issues relating to specific rehabilitation procedures and also to programme organization and management. The book is based on the twin premises that basic science is the foundation of rehabilitation and that successful outcome is dependent on the specificity of the rehabilitation. In demonstrating this, the book goes beyond cognitive rehabilitation treatments to cover biological, psychological, social and historical factors such as course of recovery, mood and motivation, family environment, education and age. With its emphasis on scientific principles, multidisciplinary practice, and functional outcome, this book will serve as an essential resource for all scientists and clinicians concerned with cognitive deficits secondary to altered brain functioning, and particularly to psychologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
