Book Description
Results are presented of the effect of various physicochemical and hydrodynamic factors on the process rate of absorption of nitrogen oxides by nitric acid solutions in a foam apparatus. With an increase in the initial nitrosity of the gas, the degree of conversion of nitrogen oxides into HNO3 increases. The degree of conversion of nitrogen oxides into HNO3 is reduced with an increase in nitric acid concentration, while efficiency remains practically constant right up to 45 percent nitric acid with the same concentration of nitrogen oxides. In the case of counterflow the efficiency increases with a growth in the concentration of nitrogen oxides and nitric acid. With a certain motivating force of the absorption process, it is necessary to take into account the equilibrium pressure of the nitrogen oxides over the liquid phase. With an increase in temperature from 20 to 50 degrees C, the coefficient of the degree of achievement of equilibrium between the nitrogen oxides and the acid, or efficiency, is reduced by 0.2 percent per 1 degree C. An increase in temperature within the limits 20-50 degrees C renders in a negative influence on the absorption process. (Author).

Oxides of Nitrogen
Author: C. L. Young
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 148328560X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 388
Book Description
Scientists in many fields are interested in the oxides of nitrogen, which surround us both in the atmosphere and in the many fluids we encounter daily. This volume comprises experimental solubility data of gaseous nitrous oxide and nitric oxide in all liquids as reported in the scientific literature; tables of smoothed mole fraction solubility values for systems which have been studied over a range of temperatures; and critical evaluations of the experimental data
