Excerpt from Property Inviolable: Or, Some Remarks Upon a Pamphlet Entituled, Prescription Sacred Bulinefs and Duty of every Man in a free Coun try, to afi'ert the Rights of his fellow Subjects; I thought it incumbent upon me to pubhfh the following Remarks: Wherein I have confider ed the Clergy meetly in their Temporal not in their Spiritual Capacity; not as Clergymen but as Subjce'z's. I hope I have confidered the mat ter impartially. I can affure the World, there is no Biafs of Intereft upon my Mind: I am neither Clergy-man, Impropriator nor Lay Patron: Nor have I any Sort of Interefi, in any kind of Tythes whatfoever.(4) As far as I have been able to difcern the meaning and Intention of the Author, in the Pamphlet above mentioned; It is toihew, That the Clergy of Ireland have no legal Right to Tythe of Agifiment: That at bei't, their Right is extremely doubtful, and that whatever Right they may have in this Cafe, the Legiļ¬ature may very jultly take 1t away.
