Laminar Heat Transfer on Sharp and Blunt Ten-degree Cones in Conical and Parallel Low-density Flow
Author: David E. Boylan
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aerodynamic heating
Languages : en
Pages : 68
Book Description
The report presents heat-transfer-rate measurements on sharp and blunt 10-deg half-angle cones at angles of attack between -9 and +10 deg in a low-density, hypersonic wind tunnel. Circumferential and longitudinal distributions are presented for cold wall conditions for a range at Mach and Reynolds numbers. The effect of source-like flows was studied by utilizing both conical and contoured expansion nozzles with the same free-stream similarity parameters and model wall temperatures. Comparisons are made with previously published experimental and theoretical results. (Author).

Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow in Nuclear Systems
Author: Henri Fenech
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 148315078X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 591
Book Description
Heat Transfer and Fluid in Flow Nuclear Systems discusses topics that bridge the gap between the fundamental principles and the designed practices. The book is comprised of six chapters that cover analysis of the predicting thermal-hydraulics performance of large nuclear reactors and associated heat-exchangers or steam generators of various nuclear systems. Chapter 1 tackles the general considerations on thermal design and performance requirements of nuclear reactor cores. The second chapter deals with pressurized subcooled light water systems, and the third chapter covers boiling water reactor systems. Chapter 4 tackles liquid metal cooled systems, while Chapter 5 discusses helium cooled systems. The last chapter deals with heat-exchangers and steam generators. The book will be of great help to engineers, scientists, and graduate students concerned with thermal and hydraulic problems.

Analysis of the Three-dimensional Compressible Turbulent Boundary Layer on a Sharp Cone at Incidence in Supersonic and Hypersonic Flow
Author: John C. Adams
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aerodynamics, Hypersonic
Languages : en
Pages : 98
Book Description
An analytical approach toward numerical calculation of the three-dimensional turbulent boundary layer on a sharp cone at incidence under supersonic and hypersonic flow conditions is presented. The theoretical model is based on implicit finite-difference integration of the governing three-dimensional turbulent boundary-layer equations in conjunction with a three-dimensional scalar eddy-viscosity model of turbulence. Comparison is made of present theory with detailed experimental measurements of the three-dimensional turbulent boundary-layer structure (velocity and temperature profiles), the surface streamline direction (obtained via an oil-flow technique) and surface heat-transfer rate.
