La prise de conscience des facteurs humains et la mise en place d'une culture de sécurité tirent leurs origines de l'aéronautique, où de façon similaire la majorité des accidents d'avions étaient jugés évitables. La réussite de ce modèle a inspiré la médecine et l'odontologie qui commencent à mettre en place cette culture de sécurité lors des soins, adhérant aux principes de la démarche qualité. Après avoir donné les définitions des termes techniques, nous aborderons le panorama des réglementations et les instances mises en place dans les hôpitaux. Ensuite, nous nous pencherons sur l'analyse systémique des événements indésirables, essentielle à leur prévention future et à leur gestion. Puis, nous verrons quelles sont les adaptations possibles au cabinet dentaire comprenant le rôle de la démarche qualité et les différentes certifications, afin d'anticiper une probable obligation future dans ce domaine. Enfin, une dernière partie sera consacrée à l'analyse de trois exemples d'événements indésirables dans la pratique de l'odontologie.

Nous avons analysé les plaintes des patients et les évènements indésirables à propos du service d'odontologie afin de réaliser deux questionnaires de satisfaction : un pour les patients, un pour les praticiens/internes/externes. Durant l'enquête, nous avons interrogés 99 praticiens/externes et 100 patients. Malgré la mise en évidence de certaines problématiques, notamment sur la prise des rendez-vous, la satisfaction des praticiens et des externes est relativement bonne concernant leur environnement de travail. La satisfaction des patients concernant la qualité de prise en charge du service est très satisfaisante.
