Book Description
The Poetry of Vision is the first book to deal with the history of the most influential series of art exhibition to take place in Ireland during the twentieth century. Conceived by Ireland's leading Modernist architect Michael Scott, Ireland played host to a major international exhibition every four years in which the Irish art scene-the establishment and the many artists who could ill-afford a trip to continental Europe-came into contact with international contemporary art and combat the conservative and dying academicism which rejected avant-garde developments in art. The project was rooted in idealism, but quickly and consistently marked mass controversy, reflecting an Irish State that struggled to see itself renewed following the post-war depression of the 1950s. Beyond the uproar, there was the art itself. Rosc continually acted as the main conduit to the Irish public and artistic community on avant-garde developments, tracing the transition from modernism to post-modernism, and managing to place artists such as Picasso and Louis le Brocquy in the same space for the first time, giving a precedence to Irish art that had never before been witnessed. Peter Shortt masterfully details every quarrel and breakthrough to expose the true achievement and significance of the Rosc exhibitions in this exuberantly illustrated book. Based on a dissertation. *** "The first major publication on the often controversial ROSC exhibitions, Peter Shortt is to be applauded for his meticulous, even-handed approach to his topic. 'The Poetry of Vision: The ROSC Art Exhibitions 1967-1988' is a remarkable, authoritative, and immensely significant contribution to Irish art history and its contexts." --imear O'Connor *** "... Shortt's consistent deployment of archival evidence, interviews, and other primary source material is impressive, as is his thorough knowledge of each of the works shown. Particularly compelling is his coverage of Irish political and cultural skirmishes that occurred around Rosc." --ARLIS/NA Reviews, July 2017 [Subject: Irish Art History, Irish Social History, Irish Studies]

This catalog and the corresponding exhibition on Marcel Broodthaers are the result of the knowledge and commitment of many individuals both inside and outside the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS) and the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen. Many of the texts of this catalog are rooted in the presentations and discussions at the Broodthaers seminar at MoMA in 2014 that brought together many of the curators, scholars, gallerists and artists whose contributions would lay the foundation for this catalog, making it a seminar book about the artist.00Exhibition: Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain (05.10.2016-09.01.2017).

Book Description
Net Art Anthology aims to represent net art as an expansive, hybrid set of artistic practices that overlap with many media and disciplines. To accommodate this diversity of practice, Rhizome has defined "net art" as "art that acts on the network, or is acted on by it." Rhizome prefers the term "net art" because it has been used more widely by artists than "internet art," which is more commonly used by institutions, or "net.art," which usually evokes a specific mid-90s movement. The informality of the term "net art" is also appropriate not only to the critical use of the web as an artistic medium, but also informal practices such as selfies and Twitter poems.

Book Description
About the Exhibit: This is a collaborative print exhibit with visual artist, Byron Sletten and Pulitzer Prize winning US Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser. This collaboration reflects some common ideas about using familiar references to address human truths. It's accessible, approachable and yet as C. G. Jung would say, archetypal. Ted Kooser is known for his conversational style of poetry. Critic Dana Gioia, in his book Can Poetry Matter?, describes Kooser’s style as “drawn from common speech, with subject matter common to the Midwest.” Kooser’s early and contemporary work involves both troubles for Mid-westerners, and observations from everyday life. This could describe Sletten's approach as well. His work incorporates objects that are lifted out of everyday experience – a glass jar, a rowboat, an old steam iron, a pair of nurse's shoes... they suggest a story that connects to larger issues in life and relationships. A Little Background: Byron Sletten has exhibited in over 40 national and international shows over the last 30 years. This work is created using 3D imaging software to create realistic renderings – duplicating the physics of light with computer calculations. There is a video discussion. In 2005 Ted Kooser received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his book "Delights and Shadows.” He was named Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry by the Librarian of Congress to serve a term from October 2004 through May 2005. Then in 2005 was appointed to serve a second term as Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry. There is a video on page 17. Both Sletten and Kooser lived in Lincoln Nebraska and graduated from the U of NE, and coincidentally also grew up in Ames, Iowa. Although they never crossed paths then, in 2018 they connected and found common creative interests. (All works in exhibit are archival digital prints on paper, approximately 32” x 54”)
