Robert Benefiel was born 6 January 1770 in Pennsylvania. Robert eventually settled near Mt. Sterling, Montgomery County, Kentucky. He married Louisiana (Ann) Stewart on 14 January 1794. Shortly after 1810 Robert, Ann, and their family of eight children moved to the vicinity of Centerville, Wayne County, Indiana. His wife died sometime between 1810 and 1820. Robert died 16 March 1856.
