Une mauvaise nutrition chez les jeunes d'âge scolaire compromet sérieusement la santé et la capacité d'apprentissage des jeunes. Elle a également un effet néfaste sur les habitudes alimentaires acquises affectant la prévalence des maladies à l'âge adulte comme le diabète, les maladies cardiovasculaires, l'obésité et l'hypertension. Il ya des évidences inquiétantes confirmant la détérioration de l'état nutritionnel des jeunes scolarisés. Les changements radicaux actuels de mode de vie des populations pauvres et/ou riches des pays développés et en développement influencent les préférences personnelles en termes d'alimentation, de mode, d'activité physique et de choix médiatiques et dictent ainsi les habitudes nutritionnelles des jeunes plus que la nourriture elle-même. Les écoles ont un rôle majeur dans l'amélioration des modes de vie des jeunes incluant l'alimentation et l'activité physique. Toutefois, l'école n'est pas le seul milieu d'intervention, il doit être soutenu par d'autres environnements (famille, communauté, gouvernement, etc.). À cette fin, de nombreuses politiques alimentaires nationales et internationales ont été élaborées et implantées à différents niveaux et dans de nombreux pays. Pourtant, rares sont celles étudiant les perceptions des acteurs clés multidisciplinaires (gouvernement, écoles, jeunes, famille, industrie alimentaire, municipalités, pédiatres, diététiciennes, chercheurs universitaires, ONG, agences de l'ONU, médias, etc.) en phase de pré-implantation des politiques scolaires. Actuellement, le Liban vit une transition nutritionnelle affectant les habitudes alimentaires, le mode de vie et les problèmes de poids des jeunes. Face à cette réalité, le Liban a proposé en 2009 la "Stratégie de santé scolaire" (SSS) nationale pour implanter un programme de santé scolaire visant à améliorer la santé des élèves, du cadre scolaire et de la communauté. La SSS n'est pas encore déployée et il est raisonnable de croire qu'elle sera entourée d'éléments facilitateurs et de barrières à son implantation. L'objectif général de cette étude est d'identifier les facilitateurs et les barrières à l'implantation de la SSS en étudiant les perceptions des acteurs clés et à l'égard d'une politique éventuelle de promotion de la santé nutritionnelle dans les écoles libanaises. Méthodologie: Un cadre conceptuel intégrateur basé sur l'approche du marketing social et inspiré de plusieurs théories et modèles sociaux et comportementaux fut développé pour aborder le sujet à trois niveaux d'action (individuel, communautaire et organisationnel). L'échantillon comporte des parties prenantes pluridisciplinaires et des écoles publiques et privées dans les régions rurales et urbaines libanaises. Des entrevues individuelles dirigées et semi-structurées ont été menées. Les données recueillies ont été soumises à une analyse qualitative. Résultats: Au total, 48 jeunes, 40 adultes (4 directeurs scolaires, 4 services alimentaires scolaires, 32 intervenants pluridisciplinaires) et 4 focus groups de parents et enseignants ont participé à cette étude. La collaboration, la coordination, la participation et le leadership sont identifiés comme les principaux facilitateurs du développement d'une politique de promotion de santé scolaire. Toutefois, les principales barrières sont: l'environnement scolaire inapproprié, la pauvreté, la pression politique, et la diversité des structures socioculturelles. Conclusion: Le cadre intégrateur proposé offre des perspectives complètes sur la façon dont une politique de santé scolaire est destinée à travailler et à produire les changements souhaités.
