Book Description
This document compiles references & data sources for white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) within the Fraser River watershed of British Columbia. A tabular summary of all references cited indicates the specific topic or focus of each. Categories covered in the bibliography include life history, juvenile & adult stages, population, management plans, habitat, geographic distribution, and genetics. The table specifies whether the reference is associated with a specific fishery (sport, First Nations, commercial, or test). The main section contains the annotated bibliographic references. The final section describes sources of commercial catch data, sport catch data, First Nations catch data, test fishery data, and raw data from general studies directed at sturgeon.

Book Description
This report reviews existing biological and fisheries information as it applies to the Fraser River populations of white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus), probably the largest freshwater fish in Canada and classified as an endangered species. The report includes information on sturgeon morphology, life history, biology, diet, growth, mortality and disease, and historical background on the Fraser River sturgeon fishery; the genetics of the Fraser River sturgeon stock; current management practices; sturgeon catches by the aboriginal, commercial, and recreational fisheries; aquaculture activities using Fraser River sturgeon; and estimates of sustainable yield for sturgeon harvesting. The report concludes with proposed interim management measures to help protect and rebuild the Fraser sturgeon population, as well as an outline of information needs regarding the species.

Book Description
Research on Columbia River white sturgeon has been directed at their early life history as it may apply to production and enhancement strategies for management of the species. The river environment in which sturgeon historically migrated, spawned, and reared has changed through development. Habitat changes are expected to precipitate genetic changes in the fish, as well as reduce the fitness in populations. Genetic analysis of samples taken from various locations over the length of the Columbia River have indicated that observed gene frequencies in all areas sampled were not in Hardy-Weinburg equilibrium, which could suggest that the general population is experiencing perturbation in the system. Analysis thus far has exposed few differences between samples from the lower, middle, and upper portions of the system. Allelic differences were identified in fish from the Roosevelt Lake, which may be evidence of unique characteristics among fish from that general area.

Book Description
Because of their long life span and late age of maturity, white sturgeon may move extensively as juveniles or adults or both. More than 700 white sturgeon from several localities in the lower Fraser River were captured and tagged during May to September, 1985 to study their migration patterns, abundance, and rate of growth. This report summarizes, by month and locality, the number of sturgeon caught and tagged, the length and weight of each tagged sturgeon by date and locality of capture and release, and the recapture date and locality for all tagged sturgeon recovered in 1985.

Book Description
Report on length, weight, and release data on 507 white sturgeon caught and tagged at several localities in the lower Fraser River from April to November 1986, as well as recovery data for 73 tagged fish. Data on the number of dorsal scutes present on each fish as well as data on the occurrence of the nematode Cystoopsis acipenseris in sturgeon caught at Nicomen Slough are also presented.
