Book Description
Renowned commercial illustrator, designer and comicbook artist on Tomahawk, Aquaman and Teen Titans Nick Cardy, now in his 90s, has been drawing all his life. And thank goodness for that, as these recently unearthed sketches contribute not to to our pop culture history - as do his other works - but to our history Before beginning his career in comics, Nick was one of the young Americans shipped overseas to fight in World War II. He proceeded to do what he did best - carry a sketchbook and document his time in the conflict from beginning to end. From his basic training in the US, Cardy was deployed with the 3rd Armored 'Spearhead' Division, and fought through Europe (receiving two Purple Hearts on the way), ending up in Paris after VE Day. His sketches - in pencil, pen and watercolor - are extraordinarily vivid, and capture not only the humor and camaraderie, but also the horror of war. Nick Cardy: The Artist At War presents the entire contents of Cardy's wartime sketchbook, alongside his own commentary. It's a chronicle of one man's journey, but one that speaks for millions.

Book Description
Nick Cardy has been both a creative and dynamic cartoonist and illustrator for over 50 years. Spanning the Golden Age to the present, Cardy's career began in 1939 with the Eisner/Iger shop, which produced the Spirit newspaper supplement, Plastic Man comic books and more. Cardy went on to illustrate newspaper strips, including Tarzan, and enjoyed a 25 year association with DC Comics before moving on to magazine and movie poster illustration. As well as being one of DC Comics' top Batman and Superman cover artists, fans remember that in the 1960s, Nick helped define comics' Silver Age with stunning sequential artwork on Aquaman, Teen Titans, and Bat Lash. The artist's contributions to the comic book industry earned him the prestigious "Ink Pot Award" for Outstanding achievement.

Book Description
JUNGLE COMICS #100The main character associated with the title is Kaanga. He appeared in every issue of Jungle Comics. When Kaanga was a child his parents died in the jungle and he was raised by apes. The reader never gets to know his real name or his ancestry, but the jungle is where Kaanga feels most at home. In the first issue Kaanga meets his mate Ann, who is a Jane clone, after he rescues her from a white slave trader named Bill Blackton. Ann then joins Kaanga in his jungle existence. After nearly ten years Kaanga was given his own title in Spring, 1949. This ran for 20 issues until the Summer of 1954. One of the reasons for the series demise was the formation of The Comics Code Authority, a self-regulatory body that was formed because of moral concerns about the contents of many of the comics of the time. As much of Fiction House's material involved images of scantily clad women they withdrew from the market. You can enjoy again - or for the first time - JUNGLE COMICS #100 with this public domain reprint from GOLDEN AGE REPRINTS. Check out the full line - new titles every week!
