Book Description
The historical novel ‘Ashoka the Great’ is the life story of one of India’s greatest monarchs, living in the 3d century B.C. The Ashoka-chakra, the wheel of Dharma, adorns since India’s independence the Indian flag. His nearly 40 years’ government is viewed today by scholars as the first welfare state the world has known. In part 1 of the trilogy, The Wild Prince, we see how his passionate but honest character leads him often into difficulties. He is praised for his pride and courage yet feared for his direct tough actions, looking through the trickery of enemies. As the successor of his father he becomes The Wise Ruler, part 2, a governor ruling with wisdom, strict laws and justice. After a terrible war in which numerous people lost their life, he embraced Buddhism, forswearing all wars of attack. After years of ruling, applying the wisdom of Gautama the Buddha, he becomes Dharmashoka, the great admonisher, part 3.

Book Description
Way to Water has two primary intentions: to trace the development of the nascent field of theological inquiry known as theopoetics and to make an argument that theopoetics provides both theological and practical resources for contemporary people of faith who seek to maintain a confessional Christian life that is also intellectually critical. Beginning with the work of Stanley Hopper in the late 1960s, and addressing the early scholarship of key theopoetics authors like Rubem Alves and Amos Wilder, this text explores how theopoetics was originally developed as a response to the American death-of-God movement, and has since grown into a method for engaging in theological thought in a way that more fully honors embodiment and aesthetic dimensions of human experience. Most of the extant literature in the field is addressed to allow for a cumulative and comprehensive articulation of the nature and function of theopoetics. The text includes an exploration of how theopoetic insights might aid in the development of tangible church practices, and concludes with a series of theopoetic reflections. .embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }

Book Description
From the author of the critically-acclaimed debut People Who Knew Me comes the story of one man’s determination to abandon his will to live. Jonathan Krause is a man with a plan. He is going to quit his advertising job and, when his money runs out, he is going to die. He just has one final mission: A trip to Japan. It’s a trip he was supposed to take with his girlfriend, Sara. It’s a trip inspired by his regrets. And it’s a trip to pay homage to the Japanese, the inventors of his chosen suicide technique. In preparation for his final voyage, Jonathan enrolls in a Japanese language class where he meets Riko, who has her own plans to visit her homeland, for very different reasons. Their unexpected and unusual friendship takes them to Japan together, where they each struggle to make peace with their past and accept that happiness, loneliness, and grief come and go—just like the cherry blossoms. Haunted by lost love, Jonathan must decide if he can embrace the transient nature of life, or if he must choose the certainty of death.

Book Description
Bergmann's Team continues Guy and Nita's effort to acquire a Human Team to assist Banderat and Striver engineers in diverting the comets threatening Earth. The core of their team: Guy, Nita and the Twins, demonstrate they can go EVA and perform well in space outside the Striver starship Dawn Star, surprising both Strivers and Banderat. They recruit NASA trained astronauts to join them; the Team moves up to "Terra House" aboard the starship for the interim, training before the comets reach Mars. Guy and the Twins rescue four young Banderat juveniles and put down a Banderat mutiny, freeing a captured Striver trooper, demonstrating Humans possess altruism and will fight when compelled. They augment their team and begin preparing Earth's governments for the oncoming comet storm. They make plans for post-comet business and plan for space tourism as one way to pay for routine access to orbital life and business.
