Book Description
While neuropathologists and neuroradiologists are increasingly required to work together to diagnose nervous system diseases, many remain unfamiliar with the other's disciplines. Featuring over 900 images, this practical textbook and atlas combines both specialities, providing an extensive understanding of the disease process. It offers a comprehensive review of the nervous system and diseases of the eye, skeletal muscle, and bone and soft tissue. Topics are covered in chapters arranged by region, allowing for quick reference of conditions such as brain tumors, spinal cord diseases, or congenital malformations. Introductory chapters on pathologic and radiologic techniques are also featured, enabling specialists of both areas to familiarise themselves with the other's subject. Packaged with a password to give the user online access to all the text and images, this is a must-have resource for comprehensive and accurate diagnosis.

Book Description
This highly illustrated book explores the pathological and radiological diagnosis of various brain tumors. Featuring nearly 500 high-quality colored images, it covers MR images, intra-operative squash cytology, histopathology and immunohistochemistry microphotographs of various brain and spine tumors, including differential diagnosis, as well as the molecular diagnosis and prognosis of each tumor. The book also presents case studies of typical and rare presentations, and introduces readers to a new procedure for intra-operative cytology: the modified fields stain, which stains the slide within 2 minutes, allowing quick, accurate reporting. This book uses concise text and a consistent point-wise format that makes reading and reviewing easy. The radiological and pathological correlates of brain and spine tumors serve as a ready-reference resource for residents, surgical and neuropathologists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists and research scientists.

Book Description
Neuropathology and Neuroradiology This concise and accessible text helps you put the most advanced technologies in neurodiagnosis to work in a practical context. Compiled by leaders in neurology, neuroradiology, and neurosurgery, the text delivers a concise package of facts for each disease entity, aimed at increasing interdisciplinary communication and maximizing diagnostic accuracy. Detailed coverage for each disease entity includes Clinical Features (including presentation, demographics, prognosis, and treatment), Pathology (including gross and microscopic features as well as ultrastructural, immunohistochemical, and molecular data), and Diagnostic Imaging (including CT, MRI, angiography, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound). Detailed discussions of Differential Diagnosis include both pathological and radiological viewpoints. Molecular pathologic data are incorporated throughout the text to reflect the latest World Health Organization tumor classification and grading systems. Bulleted outline format and consistent organization for each chapter makes essential facts easy to find. Thousands of high-quality, full-color illustrations highlight gross and microscopic pathologic features to aid in visual diagnosis. "At a Glance" reviews preceding each entry include classic images and key facts to help readers grasp and apply vital information. A companion web site lets readers access the continuously updated text, plus the full array of 3000+ images. Book Description
Imaging Brain Diseases illustrates in a unique way the most common diseases affecting the human nervous system using different imaging modalities derived from radiology, nuclear medicine, and neuropathology. The features of the diseases are visualized on computerized tomography (CT)-scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-scans, nuclear medicine scans, surgical intraoperative as well as gross-anatomy and histology preparations. For each disease entity, the structural changes are illustrated in a correlative comparative way based on the various imaging techniques. The brain diseases are presented in a systematic way allowing the reader to easily find the topics in which she or he is particularly interested. In Part 1 of the book, the imaging techniques are described in a practical, straightforward way. The morphological built-up of the normal human brain and its vascular supply are presented in Part 2. The chapters of the subsequent Parts 3 to 10 deal with the following diseases involving the nervous system including: hemodynamic, vascular, infectious, neurodegenerative, demyelination, epilepsy, trauma and intoxication, and tumors. The authors incite the clinician to see the cell, the tissue, the organ, the disorder by enabling him to recognize brain lesions or interpreting histologic findings and to correlate this knowledge with molecular biologic concepts. Thus, this book bridges the gap between neuro-clinicians, neuro-imagers and neuro-pathologists. The information provided will facilitate the understanding of the disease processes in the daily routine work of neurologists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neuropathologists, and all allied clinical disciplines.

Book Description
"1 Clinical history, clinical correlations with placental pathology and prematurity The initial steps in the process of perinatal nervous system evaluation, namely the planning of the optimal approach and choice of samples to be obtained, are driven by the clinical context. Of key importance are the following data: a. Gestational age at time of demise (if stillborn); or gestational age and postnatal age (if liveborn), for comparison with normative standards of development (see Appendix); b. State of maternal health (age, parity, pre-existing medical conditions or ones appearing during gestation or around the time of delivery, exposure to medications/toxins/infections), and of health of siblings or other family members: - Concerns for inherited (i.e., genetic) conditions, metabolic disorders, congenital infections, etc., may indicate the need for special testing; c. Details of prenatal course, including any imaging, amniocentesis, or monitoring: - Prenatal imaging modalities most commonly consist of transabdominal ultrasonography, generally done at the time of the first prenatal visit (to confirm pregnancy) or more usually in the mid-second-trimester for detection of fetal or placental anomalies"--
