Book Description
Electrochromic materials can change their properties under the influence of an electrical voltage or current. Different classes of materials show this behavior such as transition metal oxides, conjugated polymers, metal-coordinated complexes and organic molecules. As the color change is persistent, the electric field needs only to be applied to initiate the switching, allowing for applications such as low-energy consumption displays, light-adapting mirrors in the automobile industry and smart windows for which the amount of transmitted light and heat can be controlled. The first part of this book describes the different classes and processing techniques of electrochromic materials. The second part highlights nanostructured electrochromic materials and device fabrication, and the third part focuses on the applications such as smart windows, adaptive camouflage, biomimicry, wearable displays and fashion. The last part rounds off the book by device case studies and environmental impact issues.

Book Description
This book primarily covers the fundamental science, synthesis, characterization, optoelectronic properties, and applications of metal oxide nanomaterials. It discusses the basic aspects of synthetic procedures and fabrication technologies, explains the related experimental techniques and also elaborates on the current status of nanostructured oxide materials and related devices. Two major aspects of metal oxide nanostructures – their optical and electrical properties – are described in detail. The first five chapters focus on the optical characteristics of semiconducting materials, especially metal oxides at the nanoscale. The following five chapters discuss the electrical properties observed in metal oxide-based semiconductors and the status quo of device-level developments in a variety of applications such as sensors, transistors, dilute magnetic semiconductors, and dielectric materials. The basic science and mechanism behind the optoelectronic phenomena are explained in detail, to aid readers interested in the structure–property symbiosis in semiconducting nanomaterials. In short, the book offers a valuable reference guide for researchers and academics in the areas of material science and semiconductor technology, especially nanophotonics and electronics.

Book Description
Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) usually have high conductivity and transparency in the visible range and have been widely used in daily life. Recently, TCOs have attracted great interest due to their potential applications in various new optical and electrical devices (flat-panel displays, energy efficient windows, etc.). Nanostructured TCOs can induce new size related properties, for example, when sizes of TCOs are controlled at the nanometer scale, various defects can introduce different defect-related optical emissions. These new nanostructured TCOs combining traditional and new size dependent properties may be used for construction of next generation optical devices. To investigate the optical properties of TCOs at nanoscale, in this thesis, several new kinds of colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) of TCOs have been synthesized and their optical emission and transparency have been explored. The first part of my work focuses on ITO (indium tin oxide) NCs demonstrates phase and size dependence of surface plasmon absorption in the near infrared region. The second part of the thesis describes colloidal synthesis of [gamma]-Ga2O3 with size tunable photoluminescence, further study reveals that the photoluminescence is defect related and can be tuned by changing the defect concentration. In the last part of my study, I develop a methodology for lanthanide doped [gamma]-phase Ga2O3 NCs and reveal tunable chromaticity of the lanthanide doped NCs.

Book Description
The book represents a thorough study of Tin oxide doped Fluorine SnO2: F as an alternative to the well known member of transparent conductive oxide TCO family, Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) as it has some restrictions. The TCO family has a unique property of high transmission to visible light, high reflection to infrared with wavelength greater than 2 mico m. and conductive to electricity like a metal. Based on that, it has wide application in optoelectronic solar energy generation and saving devices.
